To quote: With only 27 days until the launch of PlayStation Vita, we are excited to announce two PS Vita 3G/WiFi bundles.

Atlus Announces Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time Heading to PSP

100°
151w ago - Today Atlus Manager of Public Relations and Sales Aram Jabbari has announced that Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time is officially heading to the PSP.

To quote: It's been years since the last Growlanser game, dearest members of the Blog of PlayStation ([Register or Login to view links], for those of you playing "PlayStation Blog: The At-Home Edition," was released for PS2 back in 2007).

Even before that, hardcore RPG fans have been clamoring for the fourth entry, one of their favorites in the series, to make its way to North America. Now, there are always factors for games released in Japan to either never come or come much, much later to US shores. This was one of those cases where hope seemed quite faint.

Just this past week, those hopes were given a prescription-strength injection of horse steroids as Atlus (that's us) officially announced Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time, the enhanced PSP version of the long-beloved and much-requested fourth chapter in the popular series of RPGs, for release this summer in North America.

Let's tune out all those exclamations of shock that ATLUS is releasing a PSP game in 2012 (because it isn't going to be the only one) and get to the heart of the matter: telling you everything you need...

Square Enix Announces Scarygirl is Scaring Her Way Onto PSN

350°
152w ago - Square Enix Product Manager Charles McCarter has announced today that Scarygirl is scaring her way onto PlayStation Network.

To quote: Hello PSN players! I hope that the season has been kind to you. While we're still in the tail-end of the Winter of RPGs, I'm here to share something completely different with you!

I'd like to introduce you to the newest female hero to join the Square Enix family. She's an unlikely heroine, but she's proven herself in her most recent adventure. I'm talking, of course, about Scarygirl.

But who is Scarygirl? That's a question she herself has been striving to answer. She washed ashore on an island, and was taken in by a friendly octopus named Blister.

Scarygirl knew that she was different--after all, she has one arm that's a tentacle, one arm that's a bone, and a really cool eyepatch.

Her problems started when she began having nightmares about a mysterious man. When Blister was unable to help her, he sent Scarygirl to the wise- if cryptic--Bunniguru. And, after speaking to him, she set out on a journey to discover the mystery of the man behind her nightmares.

A lot of enemies stand in her way, so she's going to have to do some fighting. But her unique arm allows her to do some rather unique attacks. Scarygirl can bash,...

Sony Announces Silent Hill: Downpour Comes Full Circle on PS3

300°
154w ago - Today Sony Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman has announced that Silent Hill: Downpour is coming full circle on the PS3 entertainment system in an interview below.

To quote: I'm a sucker for horror games, so I jumped at a recent opportunity to watch a short demo of [Register or Login to view links] upcoming PS3 survival-horror epic Silent Hill: Downpour.

In a development applauded by series fans, Downpour strongly emphasizes creeping psychological horror over the twitchy action of recent entries like Silent Hill: Homecoming.

You play as Murphy, a maximum-security inmate with a deeply troubled past. You awaken on the fringes of the cursed town of Silent Hill after your prison transport bus crashes.

True to Silent Hill form, you'll spend the rest of the game evading the town's monstrous denizens while piecing together Murphy's deepest secrets – including the dark truths that brought him to Silent Hill.

I spoke with Producer Devin Shatsky, who answered some key questions while playing through the first section of the game. If you have questions, leave them in the comments and I'll do my best to get you answers!

PlayStation.Blog: From an interface perspective, how is Downpour different from the last game in the series, Homecoming?
