Crystal Dynamics: Tomb Raider Out Today: The Long & Winding Road

100°
85w ago - Crystal Dynamics Global Brand Director Karl Stewart announced that Tomb Raider is out today and shared details on the long and winding road below.

To quote: Crystal Dynamics - where the Tomb Raider team works - can be found in a complex at the end of a long road in Redwood City in San Francisco. Without laboring the comparison, Tomb Raider's journey from inception to being in stores today has some similarities.

You exit a freeway - in our case the conventional expectations of what Tomb Raider should be, you negotiate a lengthy curve (securing support for a bold new direction), negotiate through the stop signs of constant testing and second guessing before finally enjoying what appears to be a smooth home stretch.

Here's where my comparison breaks down however. While the Crystal team has learned to watch their velocity on approach to avoid speed tickets, Tomb Raider on the other hand has hit the gas and enjoyed a breakneck ride in the past few months to launch. It's a clichéd term but it truly has been a rollercoaster ride for the team - an unforgettable one - to get to this point.

There's a reason why we have been using the hashtag [Register or Login to view links] to accompany all our discussion of Tomb Raider at launch. It truly does...

87w ago - Following up on his previous revision, today PlayStation 3 developer wborland0 has updated PS3 Game List Manager to version v2.1 for Windows x64 users with the changes detailed below.

To quote from his blog: Yet another application update, bringing PS3 Game List to v2.1. Due to the major framework revision implemented in v2.0, some of the new features needed more polishing to better suit the app engine.

This version improves PS3GL responsiveness while loading data from multiple media sources (game folders, PKGs, ISOs and RAR compressed files) simultaneously. Basically, it means less time waiting and more time doing stuff that matters.

Another long time requested feature is the ability to manually add a game to the loaded list and search for its updates, even if the game is not in the user’s library. Fret no more, simply add the game to your list and PS3GL will search for its updates (to be fair, it was already possible to do that by importing a standalone game list from Excel).

Speaking of which, PS3GL now exports and imports a game list saved in...

88w ago - Sony Director of Emerging Platforms Chris Mahoney announced today that Chimpact swings to PlayStation Mobile tomorrow!

Below are the details, as follows: Monkeys are fun. They jump around, swing on vines, love high places, and occasionally fling poo at people that they don't like.

Today we are pleased to announced that you can have just as much fun as monkeys do (minus the poo) with the release of [Register or Login to view links]'s Chimpact on PlayStation Mobile.

•Invigorating jungle-themed background music
•Gem Quest and Totem Trial game modes
