Video: Just Add Water: Gravity Crash Ultra is Coming to PS Vita

7w ago - Just Add Water CEO Stewart Gilray posted up a, E3 2014 trailer video today showcasing Gravity Crash Ultra for PS Vita below.

To quote: In late 2009, I nervously sent Just Add Water's first PlayStation game, [Register or Login to view links], to PlayStation for submission on PS3.

Back then, the indie resurgence had barely started, and the idea that our retro flashback was about to appear on a major console was scary. We had some decent innovations in there, from the easy-to-use level editor to the ability to share player-made levels via PSN.

The landscape for indie developers has changed massively since then, but the values of creativity and gameplay remain. This is what Gravity Crash stood for then, and it's still as relevant today.

Yes, the team at JAW has been very busy with another game from a rather well-loved PlayStation franchise, [Register or Login to view links], but we found the time and talent to give Gravity Crash the update we really felt it deserved.

Nearly five years on, our work porting [Register or Login to view links]...

7w ago - Edge of Reality Creative Director Mark Nau announced that PS4 console exclusive Loadout is coming to PlayStation 4, is free to play and includes billions of weapon combos!

To quote: Greetings, PlayStation folks! My name is Mark Nau, and I'm the Creative Director at Edge of Reality. We're the folks who made Loadout, a game about resolving your differences by blasting, burning, and/or exploding anybody who disagrees with you.

I know you PS4 fans are a pretty tight-knit community, but let's face it - once in a while, you're going to feel the need to shoot somebody's legs off, and I'm proud to announce that we're giving you billions of ways to do that.

In case you haven't already guessed from the blog title or that introduction, we're bringing Loadout as a console exclusive to PlayStation 4!

Loadout is a game that lets you concoct the weapon of your dreams and/or nightmares from hundreds of component parts, and share their payloads with your friends in fast-paced matches, with violently comedic results. Giant death beam?

We've got it covered. Bouncy Tesla balls? Sure. Laser-guided cluster-bomb rockets? Hey, we're not here to judge. Loadout has literally billions of different weapon combinations,...

Murdered: Soul Suspect PS4 and PS3 Concept Art Explored

50°
7w ago - Square-Enix Community Manager Lee Williams explored some of the concept art today from Murdered: Soul Suspect for PS4 and PS3 platforms.

To quote: We had the pleasure of sitting down with the young and incredibly gifted Concept Artist, Yuki Matsuzawa, who was responsible for visual development on Murdered: Soul Suspect on PS4 and PS3.

Yuki already had a rich history in Concept Art even before joining the Murdered: Soul Suspect team, having joined Square Enix in 2004 to work with Isamu Kamikokuryo on Final Fantasy XIII for several years. Isamu joined us today as well to see how his protégé had applied his experience with Final Fantasy to a more western game.

In order to show you just how successful this collaboration turned out to be, we were fortunate enough to not only talk about the origins of the game, but Yuki even shared some of his original work for you to feast your eyes on.

First up is a sketch of our protagonist, Ronan O'Connor, which was drawn soon after Matsuzawa joined the Murdered team. As there were no reference materials depicting the reality of a ghost-on-ghost fight (whether they had guns or hit each other with their fists), Matsuzawa came up with several ideas about how best to show such a ghostly battle.

Video: Hohokum is Coming to PS4, PS3, PS Vita on August 12th

50°
7w ago - Honeyslug Designer and Co-Founder Ricky Haggett made available a video today announcing that Hohokum is coming to PS4, PS3 and PS Vita platforms on August 12th, 2014.

To quote: Hey folks! We're back with another behind-the-scenes look at Hohokum, and to share that Hohokum will be available on August 12th, 2014 for PS4, PS3, and PS Vita.

This one is focused on the roots of the game's design. A question we've been asked a lot is "How did you come up with this game?" The answer isn't straightforward, but hopefully this video will help to illustrate something of the process, as well as reveal some of our inspirations and design goals.

Dick and I started designing Hohokum back in 2008, and since that time it's gone through a lot of changes. For the first few years it was a side-project - something we worked on between other things, or when inspiration struck.

We didn't have a clear mechanic "hook" when starting out - more an overall sense of wanting to make a game that was relaxing and evoked a particular sense of free-form play. Over time this approach allowed the game we have today to emerge organically. I'm not sure we could have done it any other way.

Much of what the game is today...
