The update adds interactive disassembler support for special instructions that are used by some PPC based devices.

To quote: Support added for the instructions: attn, lwsync, ptesync, tlbiel, tlbie, tlbi, slbie.

Also added support for the SystemSim "callthru" instruction (should this even be used outside of a simulator?) and lastly an instruction that I cannot find any information about. The hex value is 0–02002000 so for now I have added this instruction as opcode_02002000 so that it will at least disassemble to code and can therefore be treated...

256w ago - Update: According to [Register or Login to view links], SCEE's Community Team Leader MusterBuster [Register or Login to view links] this is a typo, to quote: "This is a typo - the number of activated consoles is STILL 5. You should receive an updated email within the next few days."

Several months ago Sony sent out a warning to those involved in PSN game sharing, and recently the European PlayStation Network Terms of Service (linked above) has been updated to reflect this.

Although the [Register or Login to view links] still state that "You can download the title to up to 5 different PLAYSTATION 3 systems" the EU counterpart now states only three, to quote:

•In-game items or content that you have purchased may be downloaded from PlayStation Store. Pursuant to the particular terms of use that govern a specific in-game item or content you have purchased, you may use that...

Sony's PS3 Slim Carries Updated Cell Chip, 45nm Cell Processor

500°
270w ago - IBM have revealed that the new PS3 Slim carries a revised version of the Cell processor.

The electronics giant have confirmed that the Slim's new Cell is "manufactured using an advanced 45-nanometer manufacturing process" that will deliver "many performance improvements while drawing less power than earlier chips".

These chips are obviously cheaper to produce and, in part, are responsible for the smaller and more power effective PlayStation SKUs.

To quote: "The new chip has been manufactured using an advanced 45-nanometer manufacturing process, an IBM spokesman said. Based on IBM's Power architecture, the chip delivers many performance improvements while drawing less power than earlier chips, IBM has said. The earlier console carried a Cell processor manufactured using the 65-nm process. IBM declined to provide the clock speed of the new Cell processor.

Chip production enhancements for the Cell could deliver some cost benefits to users, said Jon Peddie, president of Jon Peddie Research. The chips will become more power efficient and users may see some energy savings, Peddie said.

Smaller chips also cost less to produce, which may have contributed to the lower console price, Peddie said. That could also set the stage for further price drops in the...

neo2046 of [Register or Login to view links] has deduced that it is apparently for Square Enix's arcade card game "Lord of Vermillion" or a related title... we'll know for certain on August 7th, 2009.

To quote: It appears Square Enix has yet again updated the countdown to their mystery game, which is set to be unveiled on August 7th in Japan.

In this latest update, images of a man and a dragon can be seen in the background. Thanks to the work of NeoGAF users, it appears this game has something to do with Square Enix's arcade game Lord of Vermillion, either being an new game or a port of the arcade version.
