Video: Starhawk for PlayStation 3 at Comic-Con 2011

162w ago - LightBox Interactive President Dylan Jobe has shared a video today spotlighting Starhawk for PlayStation 3 from this year's Comic-Con event.

To quote: Comic-Con is just the perfect venue to talk about Starhawk's universe, our characters and the story that drives the Solo Campaign.

Here's a video that we captured from the game and shows how we tell story in the [Register or Login to view links]. It's done with a really great kind of animated "wanted" poster style, punctuated with Rift Energy.

They're Emmett's memories. His Rift visions. They're being produced by a studio here in Austin, [Register or Login to view links] (they worked on the [Register or Login to view links] Adventures animations). We've also got some really cool tech that seamlessly blends between the animations and the game (as you can see in the video).

This really makes the solo experience smooth and buttery. We didn't want any experiential speed bumps in the solo campaign. You can sit down, start the game and smoothly flow from mission to mission with no loading screens!

So, yeah, we're having our Starhawk panel at Comic-Con on Sunday July 24th, 10am - 11am in room...

To quote: As expected, E3 2011 was crazy fun and a gamer's dream come true. Every year E3 gets bigger and badder but this year's show was special for us: we finally got to unveil our multiplayer Capture the Flag mode for Starhawk!

So far, the feedback has been great. Starhawk was nominated for a bunch of E3 awards, including Best Shooter, Best Multiplayer and Best PS3 Game from [Register or Login to view links].

During [Register or Login to view links], the PlayStation.Blog team streamed live demos for a host of PlayStation games, including this 20 minute-long Starhawk tour that really shows off one of our single-player missions. Check it out above!

Here are a some impressions from members of the press that played Starhawk at E3:

"What stuck out was the combat from the air, the power of the Hawks, and the surprisingly convenient ability to jump seats in a moving vehicle."
-IGN

"We're definitely excited to see more of this game, including its extensive single-player campaign."
-GameSpot

Video: Starhawk PS3 E3 2011 Trailer is Now Available

168w ago - SCEA Senior Producer Harvard Bonin has made available a video trailer from E3 2011 of Starhawk for the PS3 entertainment system.

To quote: [Register or Login to view links] is upon us and Dylan, myself and a number of the [Register or Login to view links] team members are all in Los Angeles and excited to be showing off Starhawk in the PlayStation booth.

Up until now we've given you a small taste of gameplay, touched on our Build & Battle system, and shown you a snippet of multiplayer action from a tourney we did at LightBox–now it's time to get fancy.

Our E3 2011 trailer formally introduces you to the exciting new world that is the Starhawk universe, including our main character, hired gunslinger Emmett Graves.

As you can see, Emmett must navigate through a brutal playground of large-scale combat where the tide of battle turns all the time, whether you're on land or in the air (YES there will be dogfighting in SPACE!). And with Build & Battle, you have the ability to alter this battlefield how you see fit by calling down base structures, weaponry, or reinforcements with just the touch of a button.

Throughout the solo campaign you'll discover a lot more about Emmett Graves and...

Video: Starhawk PS3 Multiplayer: Watch CTF in the Acid Sea

169w ago - SCEA Senior Producer Harvard Bonin has posted up a Starhawk PS3 Multiplayer video today for fans spotlighting CTF (Capture The Flag) in the Acid Sea.

To quote: Lots of you are wondering how Build & Battle fits in with the Warhawk recipe of "frenetic epic firefights," so today we wanted to give you a taste of what we will have playable at E3 next week!

This is a video of an actual multiplayer tournament we had recently at the LightBox studio.

As you know Starhawk also has a cool single-player campaign that will immerse you in the story of our main character, Emmett Graves, but as you can see we have not forgotten about our multiplayer roots!

We've designed Starhawk's multiplayer to be just as much fun as Warhawk's, but now with our new Build & Battle toy box, you shooter fans will have something you haven't truly experienced before - the ability to change the battlefield on the fly. We'll have more details on Starhawk's multiplayer soon, but for now we invite you to come visit us at E3!

Thanks a ton for the amazing reactions to Starhawk thus far. I can honestly say that we've only scratched the surface so look out for more info in the months ahead.

Video: LightBox Interactive Answers Starhawk PS3 Questions

200°
170w ago - Today LightBox Interactive President Dylan Jobe has answered some Starhawk PS3 questions alongside some fresh video footage below.

To quote: We all know a good reveal is just the first step in making our fans happy and we're looking forward to showing you guys even more tasty Starhawk content and get you more plugged into the Starhawk universe!

So the other day I asked all of you on Twitter to send me Starhawk questions that you wanted to get answered, and while we're still planning on doing a full FAQ post here on the PlayStation.Blog, I wanted to take a few of the questions that were popular and answer them straight away. Here goes:

Does Starhawk have two flight modes?

YES. Initially we wanted to have Starhawk use only a single flight mode so that all players were unified. We worked a lot on this but ultimately decided that the needs of a newbie player and the needs of a hardcore Warhawk fan were just too far apart and we weren't willing to make the compromises needed to jam everyone into a single flight mode.

So... Starhawk has two flight modes and both are great! The default mode is very simple and great for new to mid-level players (and yes, reverse aiming issues have been fixed). It's a re-vamped version of our "arcade mode" (but...
