Gamers believe Rockstar is covering up PS3 freezing issue

250°
330w ago - A thread on the US PlayStation boards (linked above) about GTA IV freezing issues has now reached over 1,600 comments from angry gamers requesting a patch ASAP.

The forum members have been angered further as videos of the game freezing uploaded to YouTube have been removed due to a "copyright claim by Take 2 Games."

Many now believe Rockstar are now trying to cover up the issue. We did however manage to find one video of the game freezing from cooleyre as you can see below... how long it lasts is undetermined though. :P

Rockstar: If GTA IV freezes, erase Game Data and Start Over

200°
330w ago - According to mclaren777 at the US PlayStation Forums, a Rockstar employee has said that those who are experiencing problems with GTA IV freezing should "erase the Game Data (the original install and the game saves) and then start over." This apparently solves the issue.

To quote: I had this same problem so I called Rockstar. The lady on the phone told me to erase the game data (the original install and the game saves) and then start over. I did what she told me to do and the freezing problem went away.

And can the person who made this thread please include this information in the original post?

Edit: I have a 60GB NTSC launch unit.

330w ago - Below is a 10 minute video review of the upcoming GTA IV by Rockstar.

The review covers gameplay, presentation, story, and an overall verdict. The review is quite detailed and shows a fair portion of real gameplay, by that I mean non-cutscene work.

Anyway, enjoy:

Rockstar: GTA V could be too large for X-Box 360

50°
331w ago - Rockstar co-founder Sam Houser doesn't know if the next Grand Theft Auto title after IV will properly fit onto the 360's standard-sized discs.

"One of the problems with the 360, and it affects games like Grand Theft Auto if you think about how much content we put in the actual machine, is the fact that they don't have a significantly larger storage medium than the previous systems. It's a slightly bigger DVD disc," Houser told 1up.

Then take into account that not all Xbox 360s come with a hard drive. It's here that things get super sticky. "The 360 is going to have to get 'round this issue we're talking about...hopefully, they're going to adopt one of those in the next year or so, because it's going to become more of an issue. If we're filling up the disc right now, where are we going? It's not like our games are going to get any smaller."

The delay heard round the world was mostly credited to technical issues during IV's development. Some said the 360 didn't have enough space to hold the game; others heard that the PS3 version was having big problems of its own. Whatever the case, Houser isn't telling. "Both machines are absolutely fantastic, but they both come with strengths and weaknesses. The strength of the 360 is a very, very accessible, familiar, effective environment to work...

GTA IV: Microsoft and Rockstar tracking Gamertags

50°
331w ago - Rockstar sent out an email this evening to all those in the UK scheduled to receive their copies of GTA IV this week, asking them to provide information on which platform they'd prefer to play on and their online IDs.

The email's published in full below:

Hi there,

The good news is we are planning to send out your copy of GTA IV tomorrow, Wednesday 23rd April, to be with you first thing on Thursday 24th, so the wait is almost over.

In order for us to do that, could you:

- Let us know which format you would prefer to receive the game on?
- Let us know your Gamertag, if the answer to the above is Xbox 360 or your PSN On Line ID if the answer is PS3.

Why we need to know.

Xbox 360 Version

We need your Gamertag because Microsoft will be helping Rockstar Games monitor access to the online modes up to release date. Because of this, we will need to add your Gamertag to the approved list of gamers who can play online prior to release.

In addition to supplying this information, if you do intend to go online before April 29th, you will need to change a couple of the basic settings on your Xbox 360 and keep these settings like this till the game comes out, otherwise other people will be able to see your achievements...
