Video: MonkeyPaw Games Announces PSOne Classic Tomba Hits PSN

100°
95w ago - MonkeyPaw Games Marketing Manager Ray Almeda has announced that PSOne classic Tomba is pouncing on PSN today with details below.

To quote: While MonkeyPaw Games continues to deliver import experiences from Japan, we also have plenty of classic PlayStation titles in our library to satisfy nostalgic needs of even the most dedicated PlayStation fan.

This coming Tuesday, June 19th, we'll be releasing the platforming-adventure classic Tomba! on the PSN.

It will mark the first time that our pink-haired hero will be available digitally. It will be available for exclusive download in the PSOne Classics section.

Created by Tokuro Fujiwara, the same mastermind that brought us the memorable Ghosts & Goblins and Mega Man, the fresh mix of platforming and sub-quest based adventures make Tomba! one of the most ingenious and versatile PlayStation titles in the Store.

The story follows Tomba, a wild jungle boy who needs to get his lucky golden bracelet back from demon pigs that have overrun his land. He'll be using numerous weapons such as boomerangs and a large mace to overthrow a wide range of foes from evil pigs, spiders and large forest creatures.

PopCap Games Confirms Bejeweled 3 Glimmers on PSN Tomorrow

50°
104w ago - PopCap Games Director of Editorial and Social Media Jeff Green has confirmed that tomorrow Bejeweled 3 will glimmer for fans on PSN.

To quote: I've got some good news for Bejeweled fans: We stopped watching kitten videos, fixed the hamster wheel, and are now happy to report that Bejeweled 3 is finally coming to PlayStation Network! Huzzah!

Now if you've played Bejeweled 1 or 2 before, you may be asking why you should upgrade to Bejeweled 3. "How much different could they make a Match 3 game?" you may ask.

"What do I do this time- Match 4?" "Do I really need to give those clowns more of my money just to swap more gems?"

I'm going to be perfectly honest with you: Yes, you do. I mean, "need" is such a relative word, when you think about it. I mean, sure, I suppose some of you "need" to pay the rent, or feed your family, rather than buy the new Bejeweled. Whatever.

Frankly, the landlord can probably wait a few days, and I'm sure there are plenty of leftovers in your fridge if your family starts whining at you while clutching their swollen, distended stomachs. Meanwhile, those gems in Bejeweled 3 aren't going to swap themselves, are they? No sir. No, they are not. I rest my case.

But perhaps you want a few details on what it is you're actually buying...

Video: Hands-On: PSN Game Datura with PlayStation Move

250°
109w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman is here with a new video demonstrating PlayStation Move with the new PSN game Datura below.

To quote: I've never seen a game quite like Datura. I encountered this upcoming PSN adventure title last week during a GDC demonstration that showed off the game's intricate use of the PlayStation Move motion controller.

In Datura, your gestures with PS Move guide a disembodied hand onscreen, a bit like a mouse cursor but in a full 3D space. The motion tracking is 1:1, so I was able to reach into the game to interact with the environment, whether it was to caress a tree trunk or pull a hand-drawn map in for closer inspection.

In the video below, Producer Matt Morton gives a full tour of Datura's interface and universe - it's absolutely worth watching.

Intrigued by the game's cryptic presentation and strong emphasis on player choice, I spoke with Director Michal Staniszewski to learn more about his inspirations.

If Datura intrigues you, be sure to tune into this Thursday's PlayStation Blogcast for another segment discussing this enigmatic PSN title. And if you have questions, be sure to leave them in the comments.

Plastic Studios Introduce Datura, PSN Game for PlayStation Move

50°
110w ago - Plastic Studios Game Director Michal Staniszewski has officially introduced Datura today, an exclusive PSN game for PlayStation Move.

To quote: I'm Michal Staniszewski from Team Plastic (Plastic Studios) - yep, the same creators of Linger in Shadows.

Two years ago, we were asked to closely investigate possibilities of the PlayStation Move motion controller, which was still deep in its prototype phase.

Today, we are proud to present you with Datura, which uses the controller in a quite innovative way.

Finding yourself in a mysterious forest, you will navigate your way through the game by controlling your character's hand using Playstation Move technology.

From here, you are immersed into the game's unique experimental narrative and original way of interaction, which enables you to experience the world not only visually, but also empirically – an illusion that you can actually touch trees, faces, and other objects.

While taking inspiration from film-like narratives, Datura is a story you get a chance to physically participate in. As you travel through the game, you will encounter choices and face your consequences. It is through these puzzles that Datura explores an element of anxiety: was it a right choice or a wrong choice?
