14w ago - Today Zeboyd Games Lead Designer Robert Boyd announced that Retro Sci-fi RPG Cosmic Star Heroine is coming to PS4 and PS Vita alongside VVVVVV to PlayStation Vita as well.
To quote: We here at the two-man development studio known as Zeboyd Games are pleased to announce that our next RPG, Cosmic Star Heroine, will be coming out on PS4 and PS Vita next year! And to go along with that announcement, here's our Sega-CD inspired opening video for our game! Enjoy!
A very special thanks to Dean Dodrill (Dust: An Elysian Tail) who helped out with effects and animation, as well as Chris Geehan and Dan Byrne-McCullough over at Hyperduck (who did the music for our last RPG) for helping make that video go to 11! And of course, our own Bill Stiernberg, who handled the brunt of the work!
Cosmic Star Heroine is our latest attempt to recapture the feel of some of the classic RPGs of the 90s, while putting our own unique spin on the whole experience. Inspired by games like Chrono Trigger (visual style, on-map battles, combo techniques), the Phantasy Star series (overall feel of the worlds and characters), and the Suikoden series (political intrigue, expandable player headquarters), we can't wait to share Cosmic Star Heroine with you!
14w ago - Zen Studios Community Manager Bobby Loertscher announced that KickBeat launches today for both PS3 and PlayStation Vita platforms.
To quote: KickBeat has been in development for more than three years, and today we're full of energy as we release the game into the wild and onto your PS Vita and PS3.
Why KickBeat? Here are a few reasons we made this game, and why we know you'll enjoy it:
• KickBeat lets you interact with music! We've given you the power of an endless game by allowing you to create your own KickBeat tracks using the "Beat Your Music" mode, which allows you to generate levels with your own music.
• KickBeat is the first rhythm game with fully 3D interactive characters. Once you have the basic mechanics down, we remove the button cues and the characters themselves become the cues! Beat matching with 3D characters is no simple process – our guys ended up animating all of these movements by hand in order to make them precise enough for beat matching! Further, these are all running at a solid 60 FPS!
• The KickBeat soundtrack is comprised of 18 hard-hitting tracks from a diverse lineup of artists, from well-known bands such as Pendulum and Marilyn Manson, to indie pioneers Celldweller and Blue Stahli - even to hidden talents like electronic music...

16w ago - Infinite State Games Creative Director Barry Island announced today that Avoid Droid on PlayStation Vita includes lots of fruit, explosions and multipliers.
To quote: Hello, chums! I'm Barry Island, creative director of Infinite State Games.
We're very excited to tell you that we're bringing something rather fruity to your handhelds very early next year. Avoid Droid is a game we've been wanting to make for a long time, and it's getting a most prestigious premiere on PS Vita!
In Avoid Droid, fruit appears in sync with a drum beat of ever-increasing tempo. Your Droid loves fruit! But when he tries to eat them, they explode.
It's not all bad though, because those explosions destroy the endless horde of robotic machines trying to squish, zap, stomp and bite you. (It's their fruit, you see. Don't ask.)
The hook to the game is the scoring system - each exploding fruit sets off adjacent fruits, creating crazy-satisfying chain explosions. As well as looking and sounding awesome, each explosion adds a multiplier to points scored with the chain.
There's loads of replay value in the main, randomly generated Arena Mode, along with collectable coins which can be used to unlock custom droids and droid bits.
16w ago - Eiconic Games Art and Creative Director Simon Credland announced that extraterrestrial RTS Final Horizon is incoming on both PS4 and PS Vita platforms with details below.
To quote: Hi everyone, this is Si at indie developer Eiconic Games in the UK, the same developer behind recent PS Vita title Total Recoil. We're very pleased to officially announce that our new game Final Horizon is in development for Vita and will also be our first title for the PS4.
This is an RTS game like you've never seen before. Imagine if in James Cameron's Aliens the Aliens attacked in robotic tanks and helicopters. That would be even more awesome, right? That's what we're aiming at here. Space Invaders just turned nasty.
It's great being able to talk about the project at this early stage - it gives us a chance to share some of the process of developing a game, from the earliest designs and our hopes and plans for what we would like to accomplish within the time we have to work on the project.
I've been working on some concepts and models of the alien craft.
Final Horizon is the evolution of tower defense. You won't see Insectors walking slowly in single file from left to right here. Without spoiling the surprise, they will use every tool at their disposal to attack your Colonists....
