13w ago - According to CVG (linked above), Sony is preparing to reveal the final piece of its PlayStation 4 hardware strategy at TGS (Tokyo Game Show) 2013 by showcasing a PlayStation-branded virtual reality headset for the upcoming PS4 console.
To quote: "It originally intended to reveal the headset at Gamescom but plans fell through at the eleventh hour. The company is currently weighing up whether the PS4 device should be pitched as a key differentiator for the console or a non-essential add-on.
The matter has been slightly complicated, but not derailed, by the growing industry support for Oculus Rift. Sony's device will be a categorical rival to Oculus, and for months there have been rumours suggesting the two companies are seeking a partnership.
A games developer familiar with Sony's plans, who wished to remain anonymous, told CVG that Evolution Studios is currently working with the device to simulate a cockpit view on its PS4 title Drive Club.
Another developer claimed the virtual reality headset resembles the 3D headset that Sony first revealed in January 2011. The head-mounted display will be available separately, like with the new PlayStation Eye, in order to keep the baseline PS4 price as low as possible.
In August, Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida suggested...
13w ago - Today Zeboyd Games Lead Designer Robert Boyd announced that Retro Sci-fi RPG Cosmic Star Heroine is coming to PS4 and PS Vita alongside VVVVVV to PlayStation Vita as well.
To quote: We here at the two-man development studio known as Zeboyd Games are pleased to announce that our next RPG, Cosmic Star Heroine, will be coming out on PS4 and PS Vita next year! And to go along with that announcement, here's our Sega-CD inspired opening video for our game! Enjoy!
A very special thanks to Dean Dodrill (Dust: An Elysian Tail) who helped out with effects and animation, as well as Chris Geehan and Dan Byrne-McCullough over at Hyperduck (who did the music for our last RPG) for helping make that video go to 11! And of course, our own Bill Stiernberg, who handled the brunt of the work!
Cosmic Star Heroine is our latest attempt to recapture the feel of some of the classic RPGs of the 90s, while putting our own unique spin on the whole experience. Inspired by games like Chrono Trigger (visual style, on-map battles, combo techniques), the Phantasy Star series (overall feel of the worlds and characters), and the Suikoden series (political intrigue, expandable player headquarters), we can't wait to share Cosmic Star Heroine with you!

Knack is both fun and challenging, and is a blast to play with a second player controlling a robot version of Knack. Check out the brand new story trailer here if you haven't already.
Mark Cerny, lead system architect for PS4, is also the creative director for Knack. And bringing Mark's vision to life are the talented artists and developers at Japan Studio, our big internal studio in Shinagawa, Tokyo.

14w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman is here with a fresh video demonstrating Killzone: Shadow Fall PS4 Multiplayer hands-on with the PlayStation 4 console below.
To quote: Going hands-on with Killzone: Shadow Fall's multiplayer mode for the first time at Gamescom, I couldn't help but feel that Shadow Fall represents a sea change for the veteran shooter series.
The gameplay retains the series' signature weight and heft, so you never feel like you're ice-skating through the the meticulously detailed environments. But thanks to a host of refinements from Guerrilla Games, Shadow Fall is undeniably a faster, more fluid, and more satisfying Killzone. Call it Killzone reborn.
DualShock 4 plays a significant role here, with its massively upgraded ergonomics and shooter-friendly L2 and R2 triggers (though Shadow Fall will allow you to use the classic L1 and R1 as well, if you prefer).
After my play session, Game Director Steven ter Heide commented that the Shadow Fall no longer uses aim assist, making it a truer test of skill. And you'll never even notice that change, given the high responsiveness of DualShock 4's comfortable new analog sticks.
15w ago - Following previous rumors and their Gamescom 2013 Press Conference, Sony has officially confirmed that the PS4 / PlayStation 4 release date will be on November 15, 2013 in North America (US and Canada), on November 29, 2013 in Europe and on February 22, 2014 in Japan.
Right from the start of the conference, aspects of the new console's menu system was on display, showing a modified Cross-Media Bar that seemed to focus more on games in related content than multiple static menus and the new controller based keyboard that uses a free-moving crosshair than the current setup.
Additionally, President and Group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Andrew House confirmed that gamers who have already bought the PS3 version of specific games such as Call of Duty, Battlefield, and Watch Dogs will be able to purchase the PS4 version for a severely discounted price. Sony did this to "reward gamers for their loyalty" and to ensure the system is as "simple and accessible as possible."
The PlayStation 4 will launch in a total of 32 territories around the world by the end of...
