Video: Frozen Synapse Prime: Combat Basics on PlayStation Vita

6w ago - Double Eleven's Mark South shared a video today detailing the combat basics in Frozen Synapse Prime on PlayStation Vita below.

To quote: Hey folks. To better help you understand what Frozen Synapse Prime is all about, we've created a video that runs through the basics of combat.

Here's a quick look at how the simultaneous-turn-based combat system works in Prime:

1.) Players on two separate teams plot paths and issue orders to their squad members, creating a plan on a turn-by-turn basis. You have the option of simulating the plan before you commit to it.

2.) Both teams then commit their plans for each turn; we call this "Priming" a turn.

3.) Once both players have primed their turns the outcome of both teams' plans is played out and the resulting combat ensues.

Once you wrap your head around that, you'll need to try and predict your opponent's strategies, wipe them out, or complete a set of match objectives – depending on the match type. Reading the environment and working with the strengths and positioning of your squad is key to victory.

You will learn and develop your own strategies. The mind games between players, and inspiring players to anticipate and deceive...

6w ago - Ovosonico Studios Founder Massimo Guarini announced today that PS Vita exclusive title Murasaki Baby is coming to PlayStation Vita on September 16th, 2014.

To quote: Hi everyone, Massimo Guarini here from Ovosonico Studios! Over the coming weeks we're going to be releasing three developer diaries, sharing insight into Ovosonico Studio, [Register or Login to view links], and the unique music behind the game.

This first dev diary is a deeper look into Ovosonico Studio, its creation, and the team. We're also pleased to announce that Murasaki Baby will be coming exclusively to PlayStation Vita on September 16th, 2014 for $14.99. If you're a Plus member, get it 20% off during the first week for only $11.99!

I founded the studio when I came back from Japan, about 2011. I felt it was the right time for me to risk everything and try to set up a studio. We started pitching ideas to publishers in general and one of those was Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. The funny thing is that we were pitching a completely different game.

After some months of back and forth, and flying to London and Liverpool, I happened to have in...

Enter Insanity - The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth Hits PS4, PS Vita 11/4

6w ago - Nicalis developer Tyrone Rodriguez invites PlayStation 4 and Vita fans to enter insanity in The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth which hits PS4 and Vita on November 4th, 2014.

To quote: Hello again! It's me, Tyrone Rodriguez, janitor at Nicalis, Inc. and producer on Legend of Raven (coming to PS4 and PS Vita) as well as The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth (coming to PS4 and PS Vita on November 4th!), which I'll be talking about today.

If you're not familiar with The Binding of Isaac, it combines elements of The Legend of Zelda and Smash TV with the roguelike genre. The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth literally features hundreds of items, weapons and power-ups all wrapped-up in an arcade-like experience.

And he said, "it'll be awesome to finally give console players a chance to experience the weirdest thing I've ever made." I've been working with him for two years and have to agree.

OK, so let's get into it.

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth features over 500 hours of gameplay (not marketing fluff, it'll take you at least this long to unlock all the secrets in the game).

Each run will be different because the enemies, rooms, levels and drops are all randomly generated. Every time you beat the game or die and start a new game it'll be all-new and fresh.

Video: Frozen Synapse Prime Hits PS Vita on September 23rd

6w ago - Double Eleven developer Mark South confirmed today alongside a PlayStation Vita video trailer that Frozen Synapse Prime hits PS Vita on September 23rd, 2014.

To quote: Earlier this month we announced the impending arrival of Frozen Synapse Prime on PS Vita, and now I'm back to tell you exactly when to expect it on PlayStation Store!

Our turn-based strategy title will be available on September 23rd for PS Vita. We're also releasing Prime's soundtrack on PSN; both on its own and in the Prime Soundtrack Edition as a bundle.

We appreciate everyone who has followed us so far and waited patiently through almost 2 years of development. Needless to say we're excited to see it out on PS Vita this month!

This latest update comes with a trailer, touching on the story that lies within Prime and showing players what to expect when the game hits the store later this month.

For those new to the game, Prime is an asynchronous, turn-based strategy game that allows players to take on multiple matches simultaneously.

It also features a rich single-player campaign set within a dystopian future, where you take on the role of a tactician to a resistance group attempting to prevent an evil corporation...

Video: Run Like Hell is Coming to PS Vita on September 16th

6w ago - Mass Creation Producer Artur Gosk shared a video today announcing that Run Like Hell is coming to PS Vita on September 16th, 2014.

To quote: Hello. My name is Artur Gosk, producer at Mass Creation from Warsaw, Poland.

You may remember me writing here last year about Draw Slasher - a one-of-a-kind arcade slasher on PS Vita. This time I'm here to introduce you to our latest Vita game: Run Like Hell!

Imagine you're a fearless treasure hunter. Place yourself on a peaceful tropical island. Wait! What?! Spotted by a local tribe of hungry cannibals, you have two choices: check out if you taste okay with garlic, or Run Like Hell!

Not quite a "joyrun," you'd imagine. But hey, you got the adrenaline to speed up, and power-ups to slow down the pursuit.

Jump through hoops, slide under obstacles, and escape the pursuit while admiring a vivid tropical island in hand-drawn graphics through procedurally generated levels.

You can sweat in a jungle, run through a calm village, avoid the sun in cool caverns, and even get melancholic at dusk on the beach. There's a bonus level too, but it's much cooler than you might expect.

Run Like Hell! offers 3 game modes: The Great Escape (story mode), Arcade (endless run on various locations), and Online modes...
