207w ago - SCEA PR Manager Eric Levine has announced today that MLB 10 The Show for PS3 has named Joe Mauer as their cover athelete.
To quote: It may be December, but the MLB off season is beginning to heat up. Roy Halladay to the Phillies, Cliff Lee to Mariners, and John Lackey to the Red Sox has made for quite a week.
However, I'm proud to report that the biggest news to come out during the current winter meetings is not from an All-Star hurler changing addresses, but from the industry's #1 baseball franchise, MLB The Show. It is my pleasure to announce that the recently crowned 2009 American League Most Valuable Player and catcher for the Minnesota Twins, Joe Mauer will be the cover athlete for the latest installment of the series, MLB 10 The Show!
We're absolutely thrilled to partner with a player of Joe's caliber– a true professional on and off the field. Just to give you all a sense of how good this guy is here are some credentials–2-time...
214w ago - Today Public Relations Manager Alex Armour has shared a PS3 video revealing the MLB 09 The Show's World Series prediction, specifically that the Phillies stun Yankees in 7 games.
To quote: With the World Series starting up tonight, we'd like to peer into the future a bit using the most authentic baseball simulation around, MLB 09 The Show.
Utilizing the Artificial Intelligence (AI) in MLB 09 The Show, we simulated the 2009 World Series and the results were very interesting - especially if you're from Pennsylvania. Here's a look at the video highlights...
The series was full of ups and downs as the both clubs clawed it out to the very last pitch. The Phillies took an early 3-1 lead behind the strong pitching of Cliff Lee, but the Yanks came right back with clutch hitting by A-Rod, Jeter and Teixeira to push the series to a decisive Game 7.
With the World Championship hanging in the balance, Chase Utley would become Philadelphia's savior hammering a three-run homerun in the top of the 8th inning to seal an improbable 8-2 victory against the favored New York Yankees.
Here are some of the final stats...
• Game 1: Phillies, 12-3
• Game 2: Yankees, 5-4 (10...
234w ago - While the much anticipated price drop announcement never actually came to fruition at this year's E3, PlayStation 3 holdouts still might want to keep watch for a new bundle arriving at their local Walmart sometime this year.
To quote: According to photos (via Joystiq) taken by a tipster working at the mega-retailer, you'll soon be able to pick up the 80GB model of the PS3, plus MLB 09 The Show and Quantum of Solace on Blu-ray for just $399.99 - the standard price for the console on its own.
There's no official word on the bundle from Sony at this point, and it's also unclear whether or not it's being planned for multiple retailers or as a Walmart exclusive.
The photos appear legit, though, and let's hope so; Quantum of Solace and MLB 09 would certainly put to shame the Talladega Nights Blu-ray pack-in that early PS3 adopters were subjected to.
249w ago - Today MLB 09 The Show Designer Greg Batalucco focuses on the new feature that many have been calling for, saving interactive replays out as movies. To quote:
We know that everyone likes to show off great plays or even funny ones to their friends. Well, now you have the capability to create your own movie from within our replay system and do just that. Now it is easy and fun to make movies and let everyone see your specific highlights.
And to get you ready for the game's release on Tuesday, here's a nice chunk of MLB 09 The Show gameplay to drool over:
Have you ever hit a home run to win a game or made a diving catch in the field and wanted to make a movie to show off to everyone? In MLB 09 The Show, it's possible and very simple. Here's how it works.
In the game, select a replay you would like to record as a movie. You can either use the regular instant replay or our replay vault (As a side note, replay vault allows you to go back to any inning or player at any time to get the exact play you want). Now that you have selected the specific replay you want to record, you can get started.
On the replay screen, you will notice a notification in the upper left-hand corner that lets you know that pressing the L3...
