Skylanders Swap Force Dark Edition, PS3 Special Edition Revealed

50°
71w ago - Executive Producer Scott Krager revealed the Skylanders Swap Force Dark Edition and Special Edition for PS3 today with details below.

To quote: In the beginning there was magic... There's this magical moment when a Skylanders fan puts a toy on the Portal of Power and watches the character burst to life in the game.

In fact, that's our official term for this experience - Magic Moment. It was coined shortly after the start of development on the first Skylanders game back in late 2008.

As the team watched the first group of kid playtesters experience a physical toy come to life in a videogame - bringing together two things they love most - it was pure magic for them and us. Since then, the term has been a fundamental part of the Skylanders lexicon.

And the magic continues... Cut to five years later as we're literally in the final throes of finishing the third game in the series - Skylanders Swap Force - and we're still amazed by just how magical Skylanders is to millions of kids around the world.

To keep the experience magical and adventurous... fun and humorous... epic and engaging... we're always looking for ways to be fresh and innovative. This year with Swap Force, we're introducing...

Video: Cloudberry Kingdom Lands on PlayStation Network Today

73w ago - Pwnee Studios President and Co-Founder Jordan Fisher announced alongside a video trailer that Cloudberry Kingdom lands on PlayStation Network today.

To quote: Take a second and watch the below video. I never watch videos in blog posts - it takes too long and I've been spoiled by GIFs. But seriously, just watch it. None of this post will make sense otherwise.

I needed you to see that before I continued. You see, we've made the hardest, most stupidly ridiculous hardcore game ever. And we're sorry. Kind of.

We even called it a happy name like Cloudberry Kingdom to help ease the pain. But before I actually try apologizing for real, let me take a step back and defend myself.

I'll be making use of the traditional Socratic Straw Man Method for my defense: below, you'll find your unsound critiques highlighted in bold, with my impenetrable defense following. Afterward I may apologize.

Let's start with the first reason for why you're upset. "Being hard for the sake of being hard is stupid, therefore this game is stupid."

Woah. First of all, [Register or Login to view links] has already proven in my mind that everyone wants a brutally unfair game with invisible spikes and hidden platforms that change location...

Video: Dying Light on PS4: Techland's Post-Apocalyptic Playground

80w ago - Techland International Brand Manager Blazej Krakowiak posted up a video today showcasing their post-apocalyptic playground Dying Light on PS4.

Below are the details, to quote: E3 is always an exciting time for the world of gaming. Never more so than this year, with the new console generation offering new opportunities and new, wonderful technology for us developers to tinker with. It's also a special show for Techland.

We're thrilled to give media their first hands-on demo of our biggest and most ambitious project to date, Dying Light. But there's more! You, the gamers, are the most important people in this project, so before the show we're giving you a glimpse into the unforgiving world of the game.

The city, devastated by a deadly outbreak, is a battleground. Witness the survivors' desperate race to a cache of supplies. Free running from here to there is only a part of the challenge.

The real test is trying to stay alive through the night, when the infected become more active and even more deadly. This is your world now, every day and every night, so run! Good night, good luck!

Video: The Last of Us Dev Series Episode 2: Wasteland Beautiful

89w ago - Naughty Dog Community Strategist Eric Monacelli posted up a follow-up video today spotlighting The Last of Us development series dubbed Episode 2: Wasteland Beautiful below.

To quote: In our first video in The Last of Us Development series we took a look at the Infected. We explored their unpredictable nature, what the Cordyceps fungus has done to these humans, and how we as developers worked some plausible science about infection into the game.

Area 5 returned to the studio to discover how we created the game world. The second video in the series looks at what went into the concept and design of the world and its environments in The Last of Us.

The key word for the development of every aspect in The Last of Us is contrast. There's a counterpoint to nearly every detail in the game and we strive to show as much beauty as the ugly, brutal realities of the world allow. We think you'll find our wasteland beautiful once you get into the game world in just a couple months.

Check it out:

Our next video in the series will explore the crafting and scavenging gameplay mechanics. An in-depth documentary on the game disc will contain an expanded look at all the content in these videos. The Last...
