FarSight Studios Announce Pinball Arcade is Out Tomorrow on PS4

50°
44w ago - FarSight Studios Lead Designer Bobby King announced that Pinball Arcade PS4 is officially out tomorrow on the PlayStation 4.

To quote: The holidays are here, and we're happy to be launching Pinball Arcade on PS4 tomorrow!

We've been working hard all year on remastering and relighting the classic pinball tables in our game to take advantage of the PS4′s power. And you're getting a table on PS4 for free.

That table happens to be one of the best pinballs of all time, Tales of the Arabian Nights, which was designed and manufactured by Williams in 1996. We can't wait for people to try it who may never have tried pinball before. Pinball is a much deeper game than some people think.

Out Tomorrow

The digital version goes live this week in North America. The blu-ray is also getting delivered to a few retailers this week - a great stocking stuffer for anyone who likes pinball (hint hint).

We're launching with all of our Season One content available. That's more than 20 tables worthy of first ballot Pinball Hall of Fame inductions. In fact, nine of the top fourteen ever, according to [Register or Login to view links] are available from day one on PS4. We're humbled to get to recreate these masterpieces for all of the real pinball fans out...

XGen Studios Confirms Super Motherload is Out Today on PS4

50°
48w ago - XGen Studios CEO and Founder Skye Boyes confirmed that Super Motherload PS4 is officially out today on PlayStation 4.

To quote: With the launch of Super Motherload and PS4 today, we count ourselves lucky to be among the small number of indie games available at launch, helping to make good on Sony's promise to support innovation from small teams.

What we don't push in polygons, we hope to make up in truly social gameplay experiences that keep drawing you back. For the next puzzle, the next Special Upgrade, and of course your next grudge-match against pals.

One unique PS4 feature we didn't have space to mention in our last post is Super Motherload's use of the Activity Feed. As certain events unfold in Super Motherload, such as the untimely and permanent death of your hard-won upgraded character at the hands of fuel depletion in Hardcore mode, the activity feed will broadcast notification of your controller-hurtling rage to your friends on PSN. Other, more celebratory activity feed posts include the acquisition of Special Abilities and Character Unlocks.

There has also been quite a bit of interest in the soundtrack for Super Motherload since our last post. We're pleased to announce that we've decided to stream the entire soundtrack on YouTube for free (with digital download...

Zen Studios Confirms CastleStorm is Out Today on PS3 and PS Vita

50°
50w ago - Zen Studios Community Manager Bobby Loertscher confirmed that CastleStorm is out today on PS3 and PS Vita platforms.

To quote: If you like building castles, destroying castles, knights, vikings, war, weapons, spells, troops, multiplayer, PS3, PS Vita, cross buy, well... CastleStorm is your game! CastleStorm launches today for both PS3 and PS Vita.

For those of you getting ready to play later today, we thought it would be nice to give you some tips on using the ballista, the primary weapon mounted just above your castle's gate.

Starting out, you'll utilize the low-powered, quick-spawning javelin, while the vikings fire harpoons. As the game progresses, you'll unlock more projectiles for your arsenal and upgrade these with gold you earn during missions.

The javelins and harpoons have the shortest regeneration period and will be your best asset in early levels. Getting five kills at once activates a shooting frenzy, which means you can shoot all projectiles in rapid succession for a few seconds. No regeneration period means you can do a lot of damage in a short amount of time, so don't hesitate to fire away.

While javelins are meant for targeting specific enemies on the ground, the Knights' Apple Grenade can either be used to take out a cluster of oncoming enemies,...

Curve Studios: Proteus Out Today on PS3 and PlayStation Vita

50°
51w ago - Curve Studios PR and Marketing Manager Rob Clarke announced today that Proteus is officially out today on both PS3 and PlayStation Vita platforms.

To quote: Hi, Rob from Curve Studios here! We're proud to announce that Proteus launches today for PS3 and PS Vita on PlayStation Store. Proteus has cross buy functionality, and will be available for $13.99.

Proteus was designed by Ed Key and David Kanaga, and was released in 2011 on PC. It's a game all about exploring a dreamlike, island world. Proteus' music and sounds change depending on where you move, creating a different journey each time you play.

We've been working on Proteus all summer, and after launching three other PlayStation games this year at Curve, you might not be surprised to learn our version of Proteus has a few additional features that are exclusive to the PlayStation versions of the game.

On the Vita version, Proteus can generate an island based on your geographical location, and on the PS3 version, you can generate islands based on the current date.

Islands generated in this fashion will be the same for anyone in the same location or on the same day, and will also be more "wild" than regular islands in the game, featuring various twists on the original's islands, as well as shifting, surreal...
