37w ago - Today Mossmouth's Derek Yu has confirmed that indie hit Spelunky is coming to PSN fans this Summer.
Below are the details, to quote: Oh man, this is exciting! It's with great pleasure that I can announce the upcoming arrival of Spelunky on PS3 and PS Vita. I know that we're not the first indie title to be announced this year for these platforms, but the Spelunky team is happy to be part of this wave of indie goodness.
If you've never heard of Spelunky, it's a platformer with randomly-generated levels, making each playthrough a unique experience. The game is hard, but it's rarely unfair, and when you die it's usually in a hilarious way that involves some kind of ridiculous chain reaction.
The difficulty and the randomization work together to give determined players a very rewarding experience - it's common for people to persevere through thousands of deaths to beat Spelunky and uncover its most notorious treasure and secrets.
I think this quote from one of the 2012 Independent Games Festival judges captures the spirit of the game well:
"Spelunky looks like a game of execution, but it's really a game about information and decision-making. How good are you at looking at a situation and understanding what it means?

It's been an absolute pleasure attending various overseas events and interacting with so many of you. I really feel like we've been able to sustain our franchise for 15 years because of such a loyal fanbase. I cannot thank you enough.

38w ago - Amanita Design Founder Jakub Dvorsky has announced that acclaimed Indie adventure Machinarium is coming to PS Vita on March 26th, 2013.
Below are the details, to quote: We're thrilled to be bringing our acclaimed adventure title Machinarium to PS Vita.
When the PS3 version was released, we called it the best version of the game.
In it, we added lots of new features - like the ability to zoom in to get a closer look at the scene, magnetic hotspots, Trophies and more.
The Vita version makes no compromises. In fact, it's even better! It includes all the enhancements from the PS3 version, but we've added some new features to complement PS Vita's capabilities.
You can now control the game not only with the system's analog sticks and buttons, but also directly with your fingers on the touch screen and rear touch panel. We've improved the zoom feature too, so it's more convenient to play the game in a portable capacity.
39w ago - Superflat Games developer Jasper Byrne has announced today alongside a video that indie horror hit Lone Survivor is coming to the PS3 and PS Vita consoles.
Below are the details, to quote: It's with great pleasure that I can finally reveal the details of the PS3 and PS Vita versions of our horror game Lone Survivor!
Lone Survivor's rich story continues to provoke heated debate amongst fans and critics alike. The soundtrack has also been consistently praised. I really could never have expected or hoped for such success, from what is a very personal game to me.
But what is Lone Survivor? For those who missed it the first time round, this is a psychological-survival-adventure, where the choice of how to survive is up to you. It's the last record of our nameless, masked protagonist, holed-up in a city full of diseased monsters, starving and exhausted.
When we join him on his quest, he has already begun to question whether what he sees is even real. You can choose to sneak through the game without firing a single shot, or to kill everything in your path.
You can eat and sleep well, or resort to drugs to keep going. You can search for survivors, or try to escape the city alone. You can...
39w ago - Creat Studios VP of Publishing Scott Hyman has announced that Psych Yourself hits PSN today with details below.
To quote: It's been a busy PlayStation Network winter here at Creat Studios. We launched Labyrinth Legends in December, followed by Germinator on PS3 for Europe in February. Just last week, we released Germinator on PS3 in North America, and presented a Cross-Save version as our first PlayStation Vita game.
But we're not finished. Psych Yourself, the follow-up to the 2011 PlayStation Network best-seller, Test Yourself: Psychology launches on PS3 today in North America for $6.99.
Test Yourself tested and trained your innate abilities such as Intelligence, Attention Span, Reaction Times and Memory. Psych Yourself goes to the next level and delves into your inner-most psyche to help you discover what kind of person you really are:
Perception: How you perceive the world and events around you.
Creativity: Your ability to form original, independent thoughts and to conduct lateral thinking.
Emotional IQ: How well you can determine the feelings of others as expressed through facial expressions, body language and voice intonation.
All three categories feature a Daily Test to give you an in-depth, professional evaluation of your performance....
