Video: Dyad for PlayStation Network: Music and Gameplay Fusion

164w ago - Dyad Creator Shawn McGrath has shared some video footage spotlighting the music and gameplay fusion in Dyad for PlayStation Network today.

To quote: Shawn here again, and I brought along [Register or Login to view links]'s composer, David Kanaga.

We're going to talk a bit about Dyad's interactive music system, how it works and what makes it unique. We're also treating you to a free three-song EP consisting of linear mixes of Dyad's interactive music and some new screenshots!

Below is a new gameplay video showcasing one of the later levels in Dyad. Don't worry if it looks too complex! It'll make perfect sense once you've completed the earlier levels.

When you hear the term "interactive music" you might think of "rhythm games" such as Guitar Hero, Rock Band, Frequency, or others of that nature. Dyad's music system is very different from those games. There's no beat matching or imposed rhythm in the game.

The music doesn't dictate play, nor does it judge you. Dyad's music is reactive, meaning it's mixed dynamically on the fly, based on the current game state and how you're interacting with it. Each time you play a level, the music is different – playing Dyad can...

Video: Retro / Grade at PAX 2011 and PSN Gameplay Trailer

167w ago - 24 Caret Games Co-founder Matt Gilgenbach has shared some Retro / Grade PAX 2011 details alongside a PSN gameplay trailer today.

To quote: We've been hard at work making a must-have PS3 downloadable game for PSN.

If you're like me and you can barely remember your own name, let me refresh your memory about [Register or Login to view links].

Retro/Grade is an innovative fusion between a rhythm game and a sidescrolling shooter that has received the IndieCade audience award as well as two Independent Game Festival nominations.

The game begins when you have just singlehandedly fended off an alien invasion, but all the destruction damaged the space/time continuum, which caused the flow of time itself to reverse. What would have been the final boss is actually the beginning of your backwards journey.

Since time is going in reverse, you must undo your actions in the space skirmish to protect the health of the space time continuum. This means you have to dodge enemy projectiles returning to the enemies that fired them while un-firing your projectiles as they return to your ship. It is easier than it sounds since everything is timed to the beat of the original retro game inspired soundtrack.

169w ago - Sony Computer Entertainment America Product Marketing Specialist Derek Osgood has posted up a new gameplay video today spotlighting Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One - Up Your Arsenal with These Tools of Destruction.

To quote: The first thing that comes to mind when most people think of Ratchet & Clank (aside from Qwark's dashing good-looks and unflappable courage) is the incredible arsenal of weaponry.

The Insomniac Games team has always prided themselves on delivering out-of-this-world weaponry that gives you all kinds of wacky ways to turn your enemies into space dust.

In honor of that long lineage of weaponry, we're kicking off our gameplay video series with four videos highlighting the weapons you'll find in Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One.

Check out this first video in the series and get a look at the Combuster, Darkstar Fission Tether, Warmonger, and Thundersmack in action.

Don't forget to keep checking back here for the rest of our Gameplay Series as we highlight a different aspect of All 4 One with each video, including the rest of the game's unique weapons!

Video: LittleBigPlanet for PS Vita Gameplay from E3 2011

200°
175w ago - Sony's Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein is here with some LBP gameplay footage of LittleBigPlanet for PS Vita from E3 2011.

To quote: The key things to remember about LittleBigPlanet for PS Vita:

• It's not a port: this LBP features an all new campaign and Vita-specific features
• Your previously purchased LittleBigOutfits will transfer seamlessly into LBP for Vita
• Sackboy looks 72% cuter on the OLED screen

Producer Pete Smith from SCEE Liverpool has been working on the LittleBigPlanet series since the original, and is therefore well qualified to show off what's new for LBP Vita.

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this LBP is that the Create tools are kind of like a Vita dev kit. You can access the touch screens, accelerometers and more to make a levels that take full advantage of the handheld, and are unlike any previously created in the LBP universe.
