285w ago - I'm sure that every PS3 player (even Xbox 360) are looking forward to the release of the next in the CoD series, which is Call of Duty: World at War...
The developers of the game stated that this game is unique compared to their early releases. The campaign will revolve around the pacific side of the world, and then the story will obviously take place there.
And of course, watch out for some new weapons and features of this game.
To quote: Last year's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was more that just a great game. It took a series that made a name for itself under the rich tapestry of World War II and pushed it some 60 years into the future. The end result was a game that used the latest advances in weaponry, in a setting influenced by some of today's most tense conflicts, to produce an experience both stirring and refreshing.
Since then, the big question on everyone's mind has been this: What will they do with the fifth Call of Duty? The answer, we know now, is a return to World War II. But rather than a step backward, Call of Duty: World at War is shaping up to be a unique take on this familiar timeline. With part of the campaign set in the often-overlooked Pacific theatre and plenty of inspiration drawn from Modern Warfare--both technical and creative--developer Treyarch is aiming...
290w ago - According to Joystiqs sources, Microsoft is cracking open the champagne. The Xbox 360's sales have topped the 10M in the US alone. That's well ahead of the Wii, which stands at 8.8M, and the PS3, which sold 4.1M.
Worldwide, Microsoft says it's sold 19M consoles total. That's behind the Wii's global sales of 25M units, but Microsoft isn't exactly content with second place it's making a point to say that the 360 has the "largest global install base of any current gen, high definition gaming console.".
Meanwhile, the PS3s doing quite nicely for itself as well in addition to outselling the 360 in both the US and Europe, Sony says worldwide sales were up an astounding 156 percent last year with a total of 9.2M units coming off shelves, and that it expects to sell another 10M consoles by March 2009.
Looks like it's going to be an interesting year in the console market.
I wonder if the Wii's novelty factor will continue, or if the PS3 can live up to it's potential.

297w ago - Yesterday we posted a rumor of a PS3 Hello World Homebrew Method found by dragula96. Many were skeptical as it was announced the day before April Fool's Day, however, today we are happy to confirm the only fools were those who dubbed it as "fake" :P
Courtesy of dragula96, here is the PS3 Hello World UT3 Mod Proof-Of-Concept along with related info and a new video detailing how it was done! Please NOTE (as suspected in the previous comments) this is a UT3 Mod and not true PS3 homebrew (running unsigned code), however, it is an excellent accomplishment in itself.
From the ReadMe file: ps3 hello world by dragula96 4.1.08
this is a proof of concept/hello world
this already works with firmware version 2.20
the idea is to use this method to try and code
games to play via the ps3.
requirements to run:
Unreal Tournament 3 for ps3 v 1.10 i belive (maybe 1.20)
which ever is most current as of this date.
