Rainbow Moon: PSN-Exclusive Strategy RPG coming in 2012

200°
150w ago - SideQuest Studios CEO Marcus Pukropski has announced today that PSN-exclusive strategy RPG Rainbow Moon is coming in 2012.

To quote: Today I am telling you about what we've been working on with our publishing partner eastasiasoft during roughly the last year and a half.

No, it's not another shooter, but it's once again a very classical genre that we are bringing back to life on the PlayStation 3 in 2012.

Our latest creation is titled Rainbow Moon. It's a strategy role-playing game (or, for short, "SRPG" with a strong emphasis on exploration, character development and turn-based battles. This genre is one of my personal favorites that I enjoyed playing most when I was growing up (and still enjoy a lot now as far as time allows).

I can promise you that Rainbow Moon is going to be massive, and it's got all the features that you want from a traditional RPG. First of all, it will take you around 30 hours just to play through the main story mode, but that's far from all what the game has to offer. Your playtime can be extended to 100 hours or longer if you want to complete all side quests and achieve full character development.

What else can you expect from Rainbow Moon? A classic isometric open world,...

Video: HandCircus Introduces the Heroes in PSN Exclusive Okabu

50°
154w ago - Today HandCircus Founder Simon Oliver has introduced the heroes in the upcoming PSN exclusive game Okabu as part of the video trailer below.

To quote: Its been a couple of months since we were last here talking about OKABU, our upcoming PSN-exclusive action-adventure, and we're thrilled to be part of this month's "Only On PSN" program, sitting alongside such awesome titles as Pixeljunk Sidescroller, Eufloria and Rochard.

So the big news is that we finally have a release date! OKABU will be hitting PSN on October 18th, and there'll be a demo available on launch day that'll let you take our cloud-flying heroes for a test flight. With launch only a couple of weeks away, we wanted to share a few more details about the game, and what you'll be doing as you guide Kumulo and Nimbe through the four worlds that make up the story campaign.

Since we started development one of our biggest goals has been to pack a ton of gameplay variety in the game, from physics-play and drivable vehicles to the ability to control the creatures that fill the world. These powers come from the cloud-flying heroes in the game, which you can pick up and drop off to swap abilities on the fly.

With our previous trailers we've been keen to show off everything that you can do in the game, but I realize that...

Video: Sony Introduces Only On PSN for New PS3 Exclusive Games

50°
155w ago - PlayStation Network Senior Director Susan Panico has shared a video introducing Only On PSN today, which spotlights new PS3 exclusive games throughout October, 2011.

To quote: We're excited to announce a new program called "Only On PSN," which features brand new games that are exclusively available on PlayStation Network throughout October.

Every week starting tomorrow, October 4, you will find new titles, unique to PSN that are part of this program - games that you've likely read about, or seen during our showing at E3 2011.

You may recall our announcement a few months ago about investing $20 million in exclusive PSN titles, and the Only On PlayStation Network program showcases two titles spawning from this investment: Eufloria and Okabu.

We can't wait for you to get your hands on the Only On PSN games yourselves, so we're giving you a few special offers throughout the course of the program. First, to sweeten the deal, we'll be offering PlayStation Plus subscribers a 20% discount on each game during the first week of its availability.

Additionally, users who spend $60 or more out of their PlayStation Network/Sony Entertainment Network wallet through the month of October will get $10 back in November.

Video: PSN Exclusive Rochard in Action at Fantastic Fest 2011

100°
156w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has posted up some new video footage today on PSN Exclusive Rochard in action at Fantastic Fest 2011.

To quote: We have showcased PSN exclusive Rochard before - we examined its gravity-based side-scrolling gameplay and Team Fortress-esque aesthetic in previous posts.

But it wasn't until the game was right in front of me at [Register or Login to view links] that the premise, art style, and gameplay all came together into a coherent whole. Being able to control your character and the gravity of the entire level takes a bit of getting used to, but after a few minutes, it clicks.

While [Register or Login to view links] is packed with clever puzzles, it's also very much an action game. See for yourself in our new video walkthrough above, which we shot at our Fantastic Fest community meetup and where Blog readers got their hands all over a host of upcoming PSN and PS3 games.

Watching Rochard in action, I was struck by the large number of ways you could dispose of enemies and obstacles: the physics-based g-lifter, the scorching plasma gun, melee blows - even dropping a box on an unsuspecting enemy's head (netting you a "Death From...
