183w ago - A few months back a PlayStation Move FCC listing was uncovered revealing Model CECH-ZCM1U, and today SiliconEra.com (linked above) has discovered schematics of exactly what makes Sony's PlayStation Move Controller function with the PS3 entertainment system.
To quote: "This is what's inside, according to a schematic drawing from a patent filed by Sony Computer Entertainment America.
The accelerometer tracks motion. The gyroscope detects orientation. The magnetometer measures the direction and strength of nearby magnetic fields. And here's a diagram of the circuit board."
Those interested can check out the PlayStation Move Controller schematics below.
183w ago - Just under a month ago the IntensaFire PlayStation 3 Controller Mod by BGRMods was first announced, and today I have reviewed this PS3 DualShock rapid-fire modification below!
First off I would like to thank IntensaFireStore.com for providing this wonderful chip, installation was seamless and simple; if taking your controller apart is impossible for you, don't worry about it.
Instructions are included with this, no worrying about a large PDF on CD or 900 pages of nothing. Most of it is self-explanatory and anyone can figure it out (Maybe not a caveman, however )
Let's get down to business, shall we?
Again, installation is simple. Don't make a thread complaining that you can't get your controller open or you can't figure out how the chip snaps on top of the controller chip.. it's not rocket science ;]
I've demoed this mod on 3 PS3 games (I'm not your cheater here, so I worked with only PlayStation 3 demos). After I played the Battlefield 1943 demo, which had a trial period of 30 minutes, I haven't used it since.
It was rather amazing to be able to adjust the fire rate in-game as well, allowing me...
185w ago - Virtual Air Guitar Company's CEO Teemu Maki-Patola has revealed today on the PlayStation Blog that Kung-Fu Live is coming to the PSN Store later this year and will utilize technology specially developed for PlayStation Eye to create an experience like never before.
To quote: As some of you may have heard, we announced Kung-Fu Live with a playable sneak preview last week in New York. The reception from journalists, as well as gamers, has totally overwhelmed us!
We also found ourselves in the middle of the rising motion gaming discussion as many of the stories call out that our game already does what Natal is trying for: Kung-Fu Live uses full-body skeleton tracking to track the player's moves in real-time.
Thus, people have been saying that our game and tech using the PlayStation Eye is stealing the thunder from Natal. LOL!
With our Freemotion technology and the awesome quality of the PlayStation Eye camera, full-body motion gaming is already here. Kung-Fu Live also scans you inside the game world where you literally become the hero of the game.
There you are boosted with super human abilities, such as being able to jump flips without actually making flips, do high jump kicks, shoot lightning from your hands,...
187w ago - Today BGRMods.com (linked above) has announced their new IntensaFire controller modification for use with DS3 wireless controllers on Sony's PS3 entertainment system.
For FPS addicts who don't consider it cheating, the IntensaFire controller modifies PlayStation 3 DualShock 3 (Model #CECHZC2U) wireless controllers, allowing them to transform to a rapid-fire controller.
Benefits include: Rapid-fire R1, R2, L1 and the "X" button, along with dual-rapid fire, 8-mode sleeper, works in all PS3 controllers, easy installation, 3-customizable user programmer-mode, does not require a more powerful battery, and easy to program for all future games.
From the minds of gamers. We saw a need in the gaming market. Console and accessory customization is a large part of the gaming world. The problem was that gamers buy mod kits for their controllers only to find out they were too complex to assemble themselves. So we partnered with an engineering team to get a product to the gamers that eliminates the technical curve, and offers more than the standard mod kit does.
187w ago - Update: Gadget Show head Jason Bradbury has also Tweeted that PlayStation Move will launch this September, to quote: ".. another thing I was meaning to say. Sept for Playstation Move!!! I'm sure of it. Can't say why. Just.. September 2010."
Today Engadget.com reports that Canadian retailer GameStop.ca has priced Sony's upcoming PlayStation Move Motion Controller at $59.99, however, the premature listing now appears to be mysteriously removed.
Sony previously stated that the pricepoint of a PlayStation Move starter kit will be around $100 US and will include a PlayStation Eye camera, a game and a Move controller... meaning the listing above likely referred to a single Move controller.
To quote: Sony's been pretty fuzzy on pricing for the PlayStation Move - we've only really heard "under $100" for the full package with controller and camera - but it looks like the numbers are starting to solidify, as Gamestop Canada has the controller itself now listed for $59.99.
How that number will translate into a US price is obviously up in the air, but Sony's MSRPs tend to be the same or similar across the US and Canada, so we'd say we've...
