200°
118w ago - Sony PlayStation Home Community Manager Locust_Star has announced today that beginning Wednesday eleven new games will be coming to PlayStation Home!

To quote: This Wednesday, January 11th will see yet another enormous update to PlayStation Home, with new games to play, a massive expansion to one of our most popular titles, and tons of collectible items.

For starters, our friends over at Digital Leisure are opening the doors to their all-new Casino game space.

Many of you have been asking for more casino-styled games since the launch of PlayStation Home Hold 'Em and we're proud to serve up an extremely elegant game space plucked straight from the Strip with all of the fun of a Vegas vacation without the high cost of admission.

From Blackjack and Poker and Casino War to Big Six Wheel and Keno and Slots, we've got you covered no matter what your game of choice is. Of course, no PlayStation Home game would be complete without some seriously awesome rewards, so Digital Leisure decided to add over 100 of them, including clothing, furniture, and even a luxury hotel room befitting the highest of high rollers (not that you'll be doing much sleeping once the Casino releases...)

Sony Announces Silent Hill: Downpour Comes Full Circle on PS3

300°
119w ago - Today Sony Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman has announced that Silent Hill: Downpour is coming full circle on the PS3 entertainment system in an interview below.

To quote: I'm a sucker for horror games, so I jumped at a recent opportunity to watch a short demo of Konami's upcoming PS3 survival-horror epic Silent Hill: Downpour.

In a development applauded by series fans, Downpour strongly emphasizes creeping psychological horror over the twitchy action of recent entries like Silent Hill: Homecoming.

You play as Murphy, a maximum-security inmate with a deeply troubled past. You awaken on the fringes of the cursed town of Silent Hill after your prison transport bus crashes.

True to Silent Hill form, you'll spend the rest of the game evading the town's monstrous denizens while piecing together Murphy's deepest secrets – including the dark truths that brought him to Silent Hill.

I spoke with Producer Devin Shatsky, who answered some key questions while playing through the first section of the game. If you have questions, leave them in the comments and I'll do my best to get you answers!

PlayStation.Blog: From an interface perspective, how is Downpour different from the last game in the series, Homecoming?

Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD Comes to PSN on December 27th

250°
123w ago - Just Add Water CEO Stewart Gilray has announced today that Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD is coming to PSN on December 27, 2011 and a week earlier on the 21st in Europe.

To quote: We've been working on Stranger's Wrath, one way or another for around 15 months now. From the initial discussions, to actually starting work on the project true, to then getting it done!

As most of you may know we originally planned to release the game around Easter, to be able to do that we were to have started full development in September last year, but as it transpired, we didn't actually start until April 2011, which gave us our hoped late Summer release; but we ended up spending another couple of months on it, so here we are DONE AND DUSTED for release.

As such I'm extremely pleased to announce that Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD will release on December 27th in North America for $14.99. And we will be releasing worldwide! (all stores, except for the Far East/Russia/Ukraine and Portugal at this time).

We had planned on shipping with support for stereoscopic 3D and PlayStation Move and a few other little things, due to time limits we are not able to bring those features in this initial version. However we WILL be bringing them in an update in a couple...

Video: Where Is My Heart Comes to PSN on November 16, 2011

250°
126w ago - PS3 Game Designer Bernie Schulenburg at Die Gute Fabrik has announced today alongside a video trailer that Where Is My Heart is coming to PSN on November 16, 2011.

To quote: I'm a game designer at Die Gute Fabrik, a small Indie Studio based in Denmark. We are just about to release our debut on PlayStation Network minis (PS3 and PSP).

It's called "Where is my Heart?", and it's about a family of monsters lost in the woods. In the game you have help them find a way back to their home - a mysterious tree with a heart in its branches. The whole story is set in an 8-bit style environment made up of woods, mushroom caves, crystal rock pools, fern fringed creeks and waterfalls.

Nils, our artist, is going to talk more about the concept art and environment design of the game below. As for the game mechanics: the basics play just like a usual platform game, but the world is visually sliced into rectangular fragments (or panels) which are placed on the screen at unexpected locations.

With this game mechanic - the messed up way of representation - I attempted to evoke the sensation of being lost. On top of that, the visual slicing also allowed us to add further...
