Sega on After Effects of Zombie Devastation in Yakuza: Dead Souls

100°
125w ago - Today Sega of America Community Manager Kellie Parker has shared some details on the after effects of zombie devastation in Yakuza: Dead Souls for the PlayStation 3 entertainment system.

To quote: When tragedy and devastation hit a place, even if it's a place you're very familiar with, it can be hard to remember what it used to look like. You may think you know every inch of a certain place, and then suddenly, it's unrecognizable.

To see how much things can change once the zombie invasion hits, here are some comparison screens of Kamurocho as it used to be and as it is now in Yakuza: Dead Souls.

• Before Zombies - a sunny day in Kamurocho.
• After Zombies - yeah, I wouldn't go in there if I were you.
• Before Zombies - what a nice vending machine!
• After Zombies - OH GOD, IT'S ON FIRE! (At least the traffic cone survived.)
• Before Zombies - I'm not sure that's a very safe parking spot...
• After Zombies - Uh, yeah. Sorry about your car, mister.

Yakuza: Dead Souls has all the crazy zombie-killing action you're craving, with a distinct Yakuza twist.

A [Register or Login to view links] campaign is currently running. Trust me - you don't want to miss out on the assets...

Video: New Yakuza Dead Souls PS3 Trailer: How to Kill a Zombie

200°
137w ago - Sega of America Community Manager Kate Bryant has shared a new Yakuza: Dead Souls PS3 trailer today which spotlights how to kill a zombie for fans.

To quote: It's a question as old as zombies themselves - How do you kill a zombie? I find that most zombie-killing machines fall into one of two main categories: guns and melee weapons.

Yakuza: Dead Souls makes sure that you can experience both from the comfort of your own home. After the trailer, a brief discussion on the weapons you'll have at your disposal in Yakuza: Dead Souls.

Guns - A reliable source of zombie obliteration. A well-timed headshot goes a long way in zombie eradication, and Yakuza: Dead Souls has more than enough guns to choose from. (Don't forget that you can play as Ryuji Goda, whose fake arm is a gatling gun!)

Additionally, Yakuza: Dead Souls allows you to "heat snipe" items for maximum zombie carnage. Horde of zombies got you craving more fire power? Well then snipe the gas tank on a nearby car and watch the explosion spread!

Melee - If you're anything like me, you're thinking, "Alright, guns are cool but what happens if I'm out of ammo or just plain feel like slapping a zombie around?"

Video: Sega Unveils New Yakuza: Dead Souls Trailer Characters

200°
139w ago - Community Manager Kellie Parker at Sega of America has unveiled the characters today in the new Yakuza: Dead Souls video trailer below.

To quote: You may have heard that Yakuza: Dead Souls is coming to PlayStation 3 in March 2012. Like Yakuza 4, the game will let you play as four characters, including two never-before-played fan favorites: Goro Majima and Ryuji Goda. It's a Yakuza experience like none other, because this time, you'll be fighting a horde of blood-thirsty zombies.

The undead are multiplying and filling the streets of Tokyo's red light district. The area is quarantined quickly, but degenerates into a district full of terror, panic and devastation. Survivors try to flee the city, but four men rise up to protect those they care most about. If you think zombies are bad, meet the Yakuza.

Playable for the first time in Yakuza: Dead Souls, Goro Majima is nuts about zombie movies. He's so excited to be killing off zombies that when you're playing as Majima, you'll be picking fights with zombies, instead of just merely defending yourself. Now that's badass.

You probably thought Ryuji Goda was dead after Yakuza 2. But you'd be wrong, and not because he's a reanimated zombie back to munch your...

Video: Sega Confirms Yakuza: Dead Souls PS3 Heading to the US

300°
147w ago - Sega of America Associate Brand Manager Aaron Webber has confirmed today alongside a video trailer that Yakuza: Dead Souls on PS3 is heading to the US.

To quote: Greetings Sony fans and Yakuza enthusiasts! Today is an exciting day, both for PS3 gamers and for us here at SEGA - the PS3 exclusive, Yakuza: Dead Souls is coming to the west!

It seems like only yesterday we were all sitting on the edge of our Sony-branded seats, hoping desperately that Yakuza 3 would see the light of day overseas. In the years since, we've seen not only the US release of Yakuza 3, but Yakuza 4, too - and, thanks to the fantastic support of fans and PS3 gamers like you, we're proud to now announce the latest chapter in the Yakuza franchise. What was once Of The End is now Dead Souls!

So, what is Yakuza: Dead Souls all about? I traveled to the top of the mountains and spent two weeks meditating to bring you the answers. In the end, that failed, so I just played the entire game instead.

It was awesome, and in doing so, I found that this game is a mix of:

• Zombies in Tokyo
• Yakuza with guns
• Beautiful Hostesses

And while I'm not able to reveal how much content from the Japanese version is coming over,...

Dark Souls Hits PlayStation 3 Today, Meet Its Darkest Demons

50°
147w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman has revealed some of the darkest demons in Dark Souls, which will officially be hitting the PlayStation 3 entertainment system today!

To quote: "All the monsters I design, from Demon's Souls to Dark Souls, are beautiful to me no matter how gruesome their appearance."

Dark Souls Director Hidetaka Miyazaki shared this bit of insight with me earlier this year in an interview and the quote has bounced through my brain for more than six months.

Since then, I've been wanting to get a closer look at the game's stunning creature designs, all of which are plucked from the further reaches of Miyazaki's fevered imagination.

Luckily, today's the day. For the viewing pleasure of readers, From Software and Namco Bandai have collected a host of rare concept artwork accompanied by design notes from Miyazaki himself. Miyazaki also wanted to pass along a greeting just for readers:

"I am hoping all of you experience meaningful deaths many times in the game. I know that the game is challenging, but I want you to keep trying to overcome any difficulty you face in the game. And please feel a great sense of achievement when overcoming a difficulty!"

Read on for the full gallery. If you do pick up Dark Souls, keep...
