249w ago - Below are a few Firefox performance hacks, tweaks, and productivity enhancements that can be made via the About:config of Firefox.
To quote: Make Firefox Give Back RAM When Minimized To enable the setting so that Firefox gives back RAM, do the following:
1) In the Firefox address bar type: about:config and then hit Enter.
2) In the "Filter" search, type: config.trim_on_minimize
3) Right click on the setting and click "toggle" so that the Value turns to "true".
After performing the above, you will need to restart the browser and Firefox will now "give back RAM" when minimized. To undo the change, perform the steps again but make sure the value turns to "false".

250w ago - Resident Evil 5 producer Jun Takeuchi has noted that the Nintendo Wii isn't the best choice for any game which is powerful and pretty.
He added that the team is happy that they chose the Xbox 360 and PS3 for the game rather than go with the Wii.
To quote: A few months ago, Resident Evil 5 producer Jun Takeuchi claimed that the Wii would be unable to handle the title screen of Resident Evil 5.
Now most recently, Takeuchi has once again discussed Resident Evil 5 and has explained why the game isn't being released for the Wii. He says that the development team was looking to create "the most powerful, most pretty game" and "the Wii isn't the best choice."
"When we set out to make 'Resident Evil 5,' the guys knew that if you want to make the most powerful, most pretty game, the Wii isn't the best choice. From a business perspective it may have been, but after making this game we are happy with the choice we made."
251w ago - Apparently, the geniuses at Sony Santa Monica have done it again. The studio managed to create a God of War iteration that has made David Jaffe proud.
The studio released some pictures of the game recently and it looks phenomenal. However, the big question on everyone's mind is - does it play well?
God of War III (GOW3) may be one of the most anticipated games on the PS3. Sony revealed GOW3 during last E3 after much speculation that a next gen version was in the works. The fact that there was the God of War logo with a big number three on the back of the booklet for Chains of Olympus helped clue gamers in on this secret.
The guys over at Kotaku recently had the opportunity to watch GOW3 in action and they seem to be pretty excited about the game. One of the writers commented that GOW3 is more beautiful than any PS3 game to date.
Apparently, not only does the game look 'beautiful,' but the scale is enormous. According to the game director, Stig Asmussen, one of the levels from God of War on the PS2 could fit inside the palm of the titan's hand shown in the E3 trailer for GOW3.
The gameplay has also been revamped as well. Kratos can now switch weapons real-time on the fly. This means that while hacking away with the armblades, Kratos can now...
256w ago - Killzone 2 has been hyped up for years now. It has reached that state where a game is so hyped that it is nearly impossible for it to live up to the expectations.
Few games that have reached this state have lived up to the hype given to them. For most games, the hype is so high that they get buried under it (Too Human). So what will happen to Killzone 2?
Well if early talk about Killzone 2 is to be believed, it will exceed the mountainous hype it currently has.
Although it's not the most trustworthy source (not only because its name, but also because it had the first review), PlayStation: The Official Magazine gave Killzone 2 a perfect score in its February issue. The review said:
It's true that Killzone 2 is filled with moments that can handily be described as inspiring awe. Each scene is incredibly well detailed, from the gaps in jerry-rigged cover points letting you sneak in a killing headshot to scarred and scratched textures, the planet feels entirely believable... Without a doubt Killzone fans, action and shooter fans of any stripe will instantly tag this sequel as a powerful contender for best game of 2009.
257w ago - Another year has passed and in 2009 promises an amazing round of games from each platform and we are likely to see mobile phone gaming finally crack the North American market (whether it is through a Symbian, RIM, Windows Mobile, Apple, or Andriod powered phone), but before we can look to 2009 we have to evaluate 2008 and see how it matches up to the so-called Best Year of Gaming; 2007.
2007 was a year where there was no shortage of quality on any platform. With the DS sporting heavy hitters like Zelda, Puzzle Quest, Hotel Dusk, and Contra 4, the PC reclaimed top honors with amazing experiences like Call of Duty 4, Bioshock, and Crysis, but the Xbox 360 was the platform that took the crown with some of the PC offerings as well as it crown jewel, Halo 3.
Not to be discounted, the Sony platforms could not be forgotten either with titles like Uncharted, God of War 2 and Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow. With such a heavy field of courter vying for our attention, who could deny that 2007 WAS the "Best Year in Gaming" however, 2008 was not to be out done.
2008 was touted as "The Year of the PS3".
Sony's flagship console bared all with Metal Gear Solid 4, Grand Turismo 5 Prologue, Resistance 2, SOCOM (aka SO-CRACK): Confrontation, and LittleBigPlanet as well as the shared titles with the Xbox...
