Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising PS3 DLC is Only Weeks Away

50°
255w ago - The team behind Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising have stated that DLC will be coming to the PS3, XBox 360 and PC in a matter of weeks for the game.

Codemasters' Sion Lenton, Exec Producer, revealed the following in an interview with [Register or Login to view links], to quote:

"We've got some very ambitious plans with DLC - our first pack is coming up in a matter of weeks. We'll also have title updates coming up because once the game's out there, we'll need to get feedback from the people who are playing it, and if need be make a few adjustments and tweaks.

Our team are already prototyping all sorts of stuff to be released as DLC and we're really excited about it. It's a really different type of market now; I remember five or six years ago, you'd get a game, finish it, put it back on the shelf and that was it.

But now it's almost as though the game's release is just the beginning, really. Ours is a game that lends itself very well to expansion - there will be weapons packs, map packs - all sorts of things we can do to get our product out there."

Sony London: The Getaway 3 & Eight Days for PS3 Not Cancelled

250°
256w ago - Last year Sony Computer Entertainment announced that it cancelled production on two PlayStation 3 titles in development at the Sony London Studio, namely The Getaway 3 and Eight Days.

Just over a month ago some related video and media from the titles surfaced, and today GameSpot is reporting that The Getaway 3 and Eight Days are not abandoned after all!

To quote from an interview with Sony Studio London's Nicolas Doucet:

"I would not say they have been abandoned, just put to one side. Much work had been done. The studio just wanted to focus on its strengths, EyeToy and SingStar. Given the potential of EyePet, priorities have been changed, but the other projects aren't dead yet. Ultimately, the decision [to put those games to one side] has benefited everyone."

He then goes on to describe that Studio London have one other game in development but gives no details. He describes it as a "different concept".

Rumor: Full PS3 Backwards Compatibility Only Weeks Away?

850°
270w ago - Recently it was reported that Sony patented software-based PS2 emulation technology. This got users excited who own 80GB, 40GB and 160GB PS3 consoles without backwards compatability.

Although the article speculated that the upcoming PS3 slim may utilize this technology, today a German Web site has supposedly gained comment from a Sony employee, to quote:

This brings us to the German Web site [Register or Login to view links], which claims to have gained comment from a Sony employee stating that full backwards compatibility is coming to US PS3's as a firmware update in the "next few weeks."

If this rumor is true, it will make many newer PS3 console owners very happy indeed!

Video: Uncharted 2 PS3 Visuals Blows Away All Competition

276w ago - After watching the 5 min gameplay of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, I have been left speechless.

I hear this is a common symptom with most PS3 exclusives of late, but this has taken it too far, the game looks incredible, so incredible... nothing else on consoles matches it.

The detail in the character models, faces, environments, explosions, lighting and animations are absolutely fantastic, I have to give special recognition to just how crisp the textures of this game look, I think the secret to the uniquely crisp textures are the fact that they are hand-painted!

For those of you that haven't seen it, you need to watch this footage, it's stunning in every sense of the word, and if this is the level of visual fidelity we can come to expect from every level in the game, I can't wait to see gameplay of some snowy areas.

From loads of insider sources I'm in contact with, they are stating that Nathan Drakes character model alone contains more detail than in some other games environments. various shaders have been applied to his body, and an even more improved expression engine has been used to craft characters organic facial expressions with great care.

No other game comes close to the...

Throw Your Hard Drive Away, Google's Gdrive Arrives This Year

100°
293w ago - According to TGDaily, Google's Gdrive is set for a 2009 release. This new service is essentially an online storage where Google servers will be able to hold the entire contents of your hard drive.

But that's not all, the service will also allow you perform some cool tricks like booting the online drive to load the Google OS.

To quote: The service has the potential to eclipse even Gmail, Google's second best-known product after their google.com search engine.

That said, it's no wonder users have been ripe with anticipation for years - yes, that's how long the rumors have persisted. Gdrive is basically online storage where Google servers have enough capacity to hold the entire contents of your hard drive.

It will likely also come with enough brains to do cool tricks now with bigger things down the road - like booting your computer from online drive to load the Google operating system.
