Video: Hands On at Gamescom 2012: Zen Pinball 2 on PS Vita

122w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has shared a video today going hands on with Zen Pinball 2 for PS Vita at Gamescom 2012.

To quote: If you're a regular PlayStation Blogcast listener, you're probably sick to death of hearing about how much we've been playing and enjoying The Pinball Arcade on PS3 and PS Vita.

Farsight's pinball simulator faithfully recreates the experience of playing some of pinball's greatest tables, many of which are quite difficult to find in the real world.

Zen Studios has taken a different tack since debuting on PS3 (via PSN) in 2009 - the tables featured in Zen Pinball don't exist in some decrepit arcade or collector's garage. These fanciful pinball experiences don't - and simply couldn't - exist in real life.

Now Zen is upgrading the "platform" for these tables - meaning the physics engine, visuals, and social media experience - with Zen Pinball 2, coming to both PS3 and PS Vita for free next month.

I was lucky enough to be sharing a flight out to Cologne for gamescom with someone from the Zen PR team, who handed me a PS Vita loaded with a nearly complete version of the game.

With The Pinball Arcade fresh in my mind, I slipped back into...

122w ago - Sanzaru Games President Glen Egan has made available a new Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time video trailer from Gamescom 2012 today confirming that fans who buy once will get it on PS3 and PS Vita.

To quote: Hello from Germany! I'd like to talk about the cool stuff we're showing off at this year's Gamescom for Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time.

First and foremost, we'd like to introduce you to a new Cooper ancestor, Salim Al Kupar. You'll meet Salim as Sly travels back in time to the enchanted world of ancient Arabia - a land of magic genies, flying carpets and lost treasures.

Sly quickly discovers that Salim is nearing retirement and looking forward to taking a little break from thievery, but recent events have put an end to those plans! Now Sly and the gang will need to goad the slightly recalcitrant Salim back into action as they work together to restore his legacy.

We're also giving you a look at a brand new mission in Arabia so you can see Salim in action. We find him on a quest to free one of the members of his band of thieves from a strange imprisonment. To do so, he must use his signature ability - the Cobra Climb.

This technique allows him to rapidly ascend vertical ropes, chains or poles to quickly evade an attack. This comes in very handy as he makes...

Video: Naughty Dog on The Last of Us: The Making of a Cinematic

122w ago - Naughty Dog Community Strategist Arne Meyer has shared a The Last of Us video today covering the making of a cinematic below.

To quote: Yesterday at Gamescom in Germany [Register or Login to view links], the voice of Joel, and [Register or Login to view links], the voice of Ellie, took the stage with moderator Arne Meyer, Community Strategist at Naughty Dog, to talk about the cinematic process, the performances, and the creative ideas at play in The Last of Us.

Before the presentation began, our game's directors had a few words to say about the project.

In order to make everything Bruce and Neil discuss in the video a reality, the performances of Troy, Ashley, and every actor involved play a crucial role. Performance capture is a long, time-intensive process.

It involves tight mocap suits, long hours, a ton of writing and often some fortuitous ad-lib. We called attention to these performances – one of the first steps to the game's cinematic process – at our panel during San Diego Comic Con.

At Gamescom, we went deeper into the process, and now you can watch the raw mocap for the cinematic that introduced Bill, played by [Register or Login to view links].
