PowerMad Review of Killzone 2 Exclusively for the PlayStation 3

400°
299w ago - Now that I don't have a 13-minute limit of a video I can fully explain how great Killzone 2 is. The graphics to Killzone 2 are amazing to say the very least.

Graphics/Environment/Audio

Right away you are dropped off at a area that has some of the best water physics and visuals I have ever personally seen.

This is coming from a man who has played Crysis on a full 1080P monitor with the graphics all the way up. As well as Metal Gear Solid 4 in the same way.

You can search high and low but will never find a game at this current time that looks better than Killzone 2.

The textures and environment just set the mood. You will almost never get bored of just walking around looking at the world around you.

The physics are near perfect. The way the Helghast look as you shoot them with your assault rifle is perfect they move just the way you would expect them to.

There was also a lot of care put into the audio of this game. What more can you say? If it sounds like a explosion when it's a explosion it's good.

So full Circle this game will make all your senses happy. From the great visuals,...

Dirt 2 for the PlayStation 3 Console Expected in September 2009

250°
299w ago - The original Dirt was a hit across the board, which naturally means that Codemasters is hard at work on a sequel. Known quite simply as Dirt 2, this follow-up was unveiled by the English publisher at a press event last night in San Francisco.

During the presentation, the big theme that Codemasters was hammering on for this sequel was the idea of off-road racing with an extreme sports attitude. What does that mean, exactly?

The first game featured voice-over work by motocross legend Travis Pastrana, but this time around Codemasters is looking to go full tilt with the game's presentation.

A teaser video revealed a scene from the player's RV, the hub where you control all your career mode exploits, and it was a raucous collection of grime, half-naked women, and general insanity. That should serve as a good hint of what the overall attitude will be.

But of course, this is still a racing game, and gussying up the user interface will take you only so far. Thankfully, Codemasters revealed some intriguing information about the type of racing you'll be doing this time around. The biggest chunk of information they let out is the inclusion of stadium rally events.

They showed a gameplay video of a fictional stadium built around London's Battersea Power Station, with...

Sony: PlayStation 3 is Hard to Develop for on Purpose

350°
299w ago - Earlier this week, Shaun Himmerick, executive producer for "Wheelman" and employee at Midway, told the hosts of the "[Register or Login to view links]" podcast that developing for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 couldn't be any different.

"The politically incorrect answer is that the PS3 is a huge pain in the ass," Himmerick told the hosts.

"Anyone making a game, if you're going to make it for both, just lead on the PS3 because if it works on the PS3, it'll work on 360," he said. "We had to play catch-up on the PS3 because of the memory constraints and how it renders; how it processes is just different. And it's harder on the PS3," Himmerick continued.

A slew of well-known developers have spoken out against Sony's high-power console.

Valve's Gabe Newell said in 2007 -long before Sony's decline started- that the PlayStation 3 is a "waste of everyone's time." He went on to tell Edge Magazine that "investing in the Cell... gives you no long-term benefits. There's nothing there that you're going to apply to anything else. You're not going to gain anything except a hatred of the architecture they've created. I don't think it's a good solution."
