1300°
187w ago - Just another few updates to PSN Download Manager, prior to recovery of the PlayStation Store. Today, I've released version 3.80 containing some of the following changes:

  • Added a premium membership option, which offers access to a huge feature called Turbo Servers and also removes the advertisement shown on startup.
  • Several minor changes to the code in attempt to patch errors for some users

Here is a quick guide to hosting your own Turbo Server:

Create a FTP or HTTP server using a relevant program like apache or filezilla,

1) Create a folder called DATA this will hold your shared files
2) Make sure to copy the exact file structure of your Downloads folder
3) For each file you want the clients to see, create a text document with the exact same filename, and add to the extension .ready (Include the word ready as text inside the file as well) | Example: 2782hsh7ggogpoyl.pkg would have a ready file of 2782hsh7ggogpoyl.pkg.ready

And then share your link to the rest of the world, who can now access them files from your server.

As for the clients to enjoy this feature, they just need to login as a premium member and add the server ip into there Servers.txt on a new line. (A small fee of £1.00 a month, to cover the cost of our...

Sony Announces Scheduled Maintenance Today, No PSN Update

250°
187w ago - Today Sony's Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has announced news of scheduled PlayStation Network maintenance and confirmed that there will be no PSN Store update today as well.

To quote: PlayStation Network is scheduled to undergo maintenance today, from about 8am until approximately 5pm Pacific time. During this time, registration and Account Management will be inaccessible, including the password reset process.

While some users may experience difficulty signing in to PSN, the majority of consumers will be able to play online as well as sign in to external sites that require PSN authentication (like this one).

For those asking about the PlayStation Store, we're still targeting restoration of all services by the end of this month. Contrary to reports, the Store will not be publishing today.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

189w ago - As a follow-up to yesterday's PSN updates, Sony's Senior Director of Corporate Communications & Social Media Patrick Seybold has posted another brief PlayStation Network update as follows:

As you may know, we've begun the process of restoring the service through internal testing of the new system. We're still working to confirm the security of the network infrastructure, as well as working with a variety of outside entities to confirm with them of the security of the system. Verifying the system security is vital for the process of restoration. Additional comprehensive system checks and testing are still required, and we must complete that process before bringing the systems online.

As you've heard us say, our utmost priorities are the security of the network and ensuring your data is safe. We won't restore the services until we can test the system's strength in these respects.

When we held the press conference in Japan last week, based on what we knew, we expected to have the services online within a week. We were unaware of the extent of the attack on Sony Online Entertainment servers, and we are taking this opportunity to conduct further testing of...
