Killzone for PS2 Turns Five - Celebrate with Double XP Weekend

250°
251w ago - Guerrilla Games Lead Online Game Designer Eric Boltjes has announced that in celebration of Killzone for PS2 turning five a Double XP weekend is in order, as follows:

November 26 will be a very special day for all of us here at [Register or Login to view links]. On that day, exactly five years ago, the very first Killzone title for PlayStation 2 hit the shelves in Europe.

Sure, the game had already been released in the US three weeks prior, but hey... Guerrilla is based in the Netherlands. We commemorate the 26th because that's the date that we were finally able to see the fruits of our labor in Dutch stores.

Of course, it would be a shame to leave this occasion unmarked - and I'm not talking about the champagne and strange Dutch snacks we'll undoubtedly be having at the studio. We also want to celebrate it with you, the fans. After all, the Killzone brand wouldn't be where it is today without your support. So here's what we have in store for you over the next few days:

Looking back at Killzone 1
Later this week on [Register or Login to view links], Seb "Motherh" Downie and I are going to play through the first Killzone game for you. We'll be commenting on our favorite sections and wallowing in beer-induced nostalgia.

252w ago - PopCap Games Associate Producer Michael Santora has announced today that Peggle and Peggle Nights are coming to PSN this week for PS3.

To quote: Hey everyone, I'm Michael Santora, an Associate Producer from [Register or Login to view links], bringing you all of our titles in association with [Register or Login to view links]. You may remember me from such blog posts as the announcement of Heavy Weapon on the PlayStation Network.

I am super excited to be able to tell everyone on the network that yes, we have listened, and yes, YOU CAN PLAY PEGGLE ON YOUR PlayStation 3 this Thursday!

Peggle took the PC world by storm back in 2007, and quickly became the casual game that everyone - including a ton of hardcore gamers - played. Following on its heels, Peggle Nights was released and has also received major excitement and fanfare from the gaming masses.

Peggle PS3 fans, I bring you the double-shot of good news that not only is Peggle available this week, but Peggle Nights will also be available as additional downloadable content. This gives you two separate Adventure modes and two sets of Challenges to complete, in addition to the online Peg Party & Duel modes for multiplayer competition.

Coming to Sony's PSN this Week: Bubble Trubble PSP Mini

253w ago - Today Creat Studios Director of Business Development Scott Hyman has announced that Bubble Trubble PSP Mini is coming to Sony's PlaySTation Network this week.

To quote: This is Scott Hyman, Director of Business Development at Creat Studios along with Jason Benham, Producer and Creator of Bubble Trubble, our new PSP Mini game. Bubble Trubble will be available for download on the PlayStation Store tomorrow, November 12 for $4.99.

Almost everyone loves puzzle games, but the "Match 3 colors" concept has become so tired that we just had to tuck in into bed and put it sleep. On a quest to create a new color-matching challenge, Jason was inspired to develop a new game where bubbles of the same color fuse together into one upon contact, and grow, grow, grow until they pop.

As bubbles grow, on-screen space gets more and more crowded. If the bubbles don't expand enough to pop, all that room gets filled and the game ends. However, if enough like-colored bubbles are combined, they burst with points, bonuses and much more on-screen space to keep on playing.

Bubble Trubble is a single-player game with two modes of gameplay:

• Survival Mode allows players achieve the highest score by matching and popping the increasingly faster onslaught of colored bubble clusters....

Video: Coming to PSN this Week: Braid for PlayStation 3

253w ago - Today Sony's Social Media Senior Specialist Chris Morell has shared a video showcasing Braid for PlayStation 3, which is coming to PSN later this week.

To quote: This Thursday November 12, Braid descends upon the PlayStation Network. And that means I'm one happy camper.

On sheer style alone, Braid is worth shelling out $14.99 in my opinion. But thankfully, it also happens to have some stellar gameplay that revolves around a time-reversing mechanic, which will keep you on your toes as you solve Braid's numerous puzzles.

Don't trust me? I connected with Joel DeYoung (you heard from him last week) from Hothead Games via PlayStation Eye, and he takes us through the ins and outs of Braid for PSN.

And yes, there's plenty of in-game HD footage to give you an idea of what you'll get on Thursday.
