Rumor: New Metal Gear News in Next Week's Famitsu Magazine?

250°
288w ago - As we all know, Kojima Productions is counting down to a reveal of a new title; the countdown timer ends in roughly nine hours, but rumor has it another will soon take its place.

Has Japan's 7-11 spoiled the announcement for everyone? Count this under rumor for the time being, but one clever poster on [Register or Login to view links] has uncovered something quite interesting.

On 7Andy, the Japanese retail arm of 7-Eleven, a [Register or Login to view links] has been put up for next week's issue of Famitsu PSP + PS3, set to hit store shelves on May 30th.

Listed in the table of contents is what translates, literally, to "New Metal Gear". Could Kojima's next project be a Playstation game? He's already developed multiple PSP games, and the engine that powers Metal Gear Solid 4 was certainly not cheap to produce; it would make sense for Kojima's next game to appear on either system.

With the countdown timer ticking away and no hints appearing as of yet, it seems the best thing gamers can do is to wait and see how this all turns out; after all, E3 starts in less than two weeks, and this...

Empire: Total War Gets a Major Update Next Week

50°
292w ago - Creative Assembly has just announced that next week will see the release of their first major upgrade for the PC title Empire: Total War.

To quote: A number of crash glitches have been "solved", along with audio, save game and assassination fixes.

The AI has been improved in naval combat, and best of all, the AI can now attempt naval invasions of your territory. It is also reported that the upgrade will fix "over 70 bugs".

I have been enjoying Empire: Total War from the very first day it was released, but I am shocked to know that it had over "70 bugs" as I hardly noticed any... however, since they all are about to be fixed there's nothing to worry about.

PS3 Firmware 2.70 Released, Removed and Coming This Week!

700°
296w ago - Earlier today, from GDC '09 a PS3 Firmware 2.70 announcement by Sony was rumored.

While we don't have an official word yet, PS3 Firmware 2.70 was confirmed present by [Register or Login to view links] (props to ssneeky10 for the link) including some of the resident PS3 Devs, albeit briefly, on Sony's servers before being removed.

Chances are either a last-minute issue with it was found, or it was mistakenly put it up for download and removed, similar to what happened for Life with PlayStation.

To quote: Just got this from a prominent PS3 developer at GDC: "PS3 Firmware 2.70 definitely this week. Developers got it yesterday."

The update was rumored to have gone live this afternoon, but was apparently withdrawn. Watch for an announcement in the next few days.

Our development team has worked diligently to give this game an in-depth character creation mode and a player experience that fans of Wheel of Fortune will love. PlayStation Network is so much more than a single player experience.

That's why, aside from solo play against A.I. opponents, we offer network/multiplayer modes with voice chat support. This is sure to get the competitive juices flowing with real human competition. To add even more fuel to that spirit, we've included PLAYSTATION...
