Video: Live Headshot Killzone 2 Demo for PlayStation 3

100°
288w ago - In the Killzone 2 demo for PS3 you can do some serious damage to the enemy, but only if you acquire the special gun.

And here's just how you do that - throw a grenade at the guy that's standing on the roof of the building inside the warehouse. It will make him run and get blown up off the building and allow you to pick up his gun.

Below is a video of it courtesy of nublet06 via YouTube.. and the caption reads as follows:

"Footage of me killing some dudes with head exploding headshots with the sta14 gun in the demo of Killzone 2. Get this gun by throwing a grenade at the guy thats standing on the roof of the buildin..."

PlayStation Home 1.10 Patch Update Glitch, New Content Coming

250°
289w ago - As most are aware, Sony's PlayStation Home 1.10 Patch arrived a [Register or Login to view links]. The update weighs in at 77MB, and automatically downloads the next time you sign in.

However, GamerRiley of TheSixthAxis (linked above) has discovered a serious problem with the new PS Home 1.10 patch... it seems you can walk off the map, similar to PC games with the "NoClip" cheats!

Additionally, PlayStation Home Manager Locust_Star [Register or Login to view links] shared a peek into what to expect in terms of content updates in the very near future as follows:

•A proverbial boatload of game spaces - including spaces for Warhawk, SOCOM, Resistance, and many, many more (we'll announce more spaces in the coming weeks)...

•Of course, you're all aware of the EA Sports Complex. But let's just say that is coming sooner rather than later. And it's cooler than you imagined.

•These spaces will usher in the next phase of Home. They will begin to utilize this uber-powerful platform's true capabilities. We're talking unlocking items in the games you play from Home (and vice versa),...

Hands On: X-Men Origins: Wolverine for PlayStation 3

250°
289w ago - Welcome to X-Men Origins: Wolverine. One could talk about the various nuances of its gameplay, but overwhelmingly only one aspect of the game truly stands out: it's violent. Really, really violent.

The insatiable rage of Wolverine reminds us quite a bit of another angry video game protagonist: God of War's Kratos. But the similarities between these two games don't end there.

The combat is very reminiscent of Sony's game; many of the moves and combos in the game look quite similar. One particular move - a spin attack - has a very obvious counterpart in Sony's game.

Wolverine has access to a number of brutal grabs and finishing moves. Just like the Spartan warrior, he'll rip enemies in half, tear off their limbs, and skewer them on various sharp objects in the environment. God of War is a great model to follow, but Wolverine manages to feel even more visceral.

Take, for example, the representation of Wolverine's health. His character model reflects all the damage he's taken. If he gets shot, you'll see a bullet in his body. If he gets cut, you'll see a giant gash. After a furious firefight, you can see clear into his body, with exposed organs and bone. It's rather gruesome, but it really emphasizes Wolverine's incredible ability to regenerate. You'll see his body heal in...

Sony: PlayStation 3 is Future-Proof, Will Last Longer Than PS2

400°
289w ago - Against all odds, the PlayStation 2 is still hanging around, though it's ailing rapidly. According to Sony though, the PlayStation 3 will last even longer. To quote:

Speaking to T3 via [Register or Login to view links], a Sony rep made a statement that discourages the thought of expecting a PlayStation 4 anytime soon.

"PS2 was still going strong after eight years, and with the power the Cell processor provides, not to mention the fact that PS3 is inherently future-proof, we see the PS3 sales curve far outlasting that of PS2."

Meanwhile, most analysts seem to think that new consoles will be hitting in 2011 or 2012. The PlayStation 3 is indeed a powerful console, so it'll be interesting to see if developers can continue unlocking the machine's full potential four or even five years down the road.

Rumor: Intel Will Design the Sony PlayStation 4 GPU?

400°
289w ago - TheInquirer (linked above) claims to have been informed by a Sony Rep at CES that Intel bought the win, and will design the PlayStation 4 GPU. Until confirmation directly from Sony is available we'll label this as a rumor, but to quote:

The nice Sony engineering lady at CES told us that Intel essentially bought the win, a theoretically good architecture, no imminent threats of going bust, and not being hated by Sony all contributed too.

With a couple of deliverables satisfied, the PS4 GPU belongs to Intel. No word if this is going to be the entire architecture, CPU as well, or not. That, from what we are told, is not final yet.

Moving on to the the XBox3 GPU, also due in 2012, we hear strong rumors (but have not confirmed yet) that it is an ATI design. Given the close ties between ATI and MS over DirectX, the bad blood between Nvidia and MS over the grand Nvidia DX10 neutering, plus memories of the XBox1, this is not a surprise either. The bed was made for short-term profits years ago, time to lie in it.

That brings us to the Wii2, also due around the same time. Given that the ArtX / ATI guys have won about every Nintendo GPU since they went 3D, this one appears to be a no-brainer. If you take into account that it will likely be evolutionary, it is almost assuredly an ATI win as...
