Rumor: PS3 Ad Hoc Party Coming As Early As Next Week?

200°
278w ago - Japanese PlayStation 3 owners have been enjoying Ad Hoc Party for nearly a year now, but when will it hit North America... Possibly next week?

That's when fighting game Fate/Unlimited Codes releases for the PlayStation Portable, according to the official PlayStation.blog.

To quote: Fate/Unlimited Codes is one of the games that uses Ad Hoc Party for its online multiplayer in Japan, turning the PlayStation 3 into a multiplayer server for PSP games without an infrastructure mode built-in, so one might think it will do the same in America.

That game's trailer promises that PSP owners can "play online with Ad Hoc mode."

Sony Computer Entertainment recently trademarked Ad Hoc Party in the United States, a good indicator that it plans to introduce it to North American PS3 owners.

Granted, the trailer for Fate/Unlimited Codes may be out of date and we wouldn't leave it up to the publisher of that game, Capcom, to determine the launch date of a Sony product.

We were told at E3 this year that Ad Hoc Party support in the West was "in the works," but weren't given a release window.

Fate / Unlimited Codes Fights Its Way to PSP Next Week via PSN

278w ago - Today Capcom's John Diamonon has announced that Fate / Unlimited Codes will be making its way to Sony's PlayStation Network next week, as follows:

I'm here to talk about Capcom's next fighting game, Fate/Unlimited Codes, specifically designed for the PSPgo. This game will be available next week, September 3, and is exclusive to the PlayStation Network.

Fate is developed by [Register or Login to view links], the talented group responsible for the Bloody Roar series and Tatsunoko Vs Capcom.

Based on the popular Japanese visual novel/anime, Fate/unlimited codes takes place in a local town in Japan where 7 pairs of 'Masters' and 'Servants' compete for the 'Holy Grail' that will grant them any wish.

This compelling combat experience features a deep roster of characters and unique fighting moves, while employing a fast-paced, weapons-based fighting system that is sure to meet any Capcom fans highest expectations. It also features beautiful 3D graphics and a pseudo-3D fighting system. (Side-stepping evades FTW!)

Kazuhiro Tsuchiya, the producer of this game and known for his work on the Street Fighter Alpha series, loves the PS community and wants to share a few things about...

EEDAR Analyst: XBox 360 Price Drop Coming Within a Week

50°
279w ago - According to an analyst with [Register or Login to view links], the Xbox 360 price drop will happen within a week.

That's right, the Xbox 360 price drop will no longer be rumor or speculation seven days from now, says EEDAR's Jesse Divnich.

Instead, the Xbox 360 price drop will be reality within one week's time - and maybe within the current week.

To quote: "EEDAR is pleased to see that the PlayStation 3 has finally dropped in price. The new PlayStation 3 pricing scheme finally makes the Sony console a much more competitive product, relative to its closest rival, the Xbox 360.

In terms of value, the PlayStation 3 is a superior hardware product in comparison to the Xbox 360; however, this is not to suggest that hardware sales will suddenly shift to Sony's favor -- a superior hardware system is only one variable in the equation for next-generation success.

Nevertheless, the PlayStation 3 price cut will act as a positive catalyst that will close the sales gap between the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. This price drop also places the PlayStation 3 at a competitive price to the Wii (retail MSRP $249).

While the target audience for the two platforms varies greatly, some consumers will face a tough decision to purchase the Wii with outdated processing...
