Gran Turismo to feature vehicle deformation in near future

50°
357w ago - Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi has said in an interview that we can expect vehicle deformation "in the near future, very, very soon."

Apparently manufacturers weren't happy with the idea of vehicle deformation but now they're slowly coming around to it. It is unclear if deformation could make it in a GT 5 Prologue update or if it will appear in the full version of GT 5 which is apparently a year away.

To quote: "We've had a lot of discussions with the manufacturers and, although at the beginning they hated the idea of deformation, now they're slowly coming around to it.

"We've still got a few to convince, but we will. Expect deformation in the very near future: very, very soon," he added.

The 10 Video Formats HD DVD Will Meet in Heaven

50°
358w ago - This year is shaping up to be a year of technology battles-Microsoft vs. Google, iPhone vs. Android-but just last month, we saw the end to a momentous tech showdown. On Feb. 19, the high-definition disc format war was finally over. And when the dust settled, Toshiba's HD DVD technology lay beaten on the ground-left for dead by its former friends (Warner Brothers, Amazon, Best Buy) in favor of Sony's Blu-ray format.

HD DVD, someone had to go. Sure, your picture quality was every bit as stunning as Blu-ray's, your price point was mildly more tolerable and your multimedia functionality probably would have been pretty good if it had ever really had a chance to develop. Nevertheless, members of the buying public weren't going to go out and buy two machines, so the world had to pick one-and it just wasn't you.

But take heart. When you reach the sweet hereafter, you'll be in remarkable company, hanging with some of the most promising nonstarters in the history of video technology. Every one of these formats was a brilliantly engineered technological flop–and maybe Toshiba can reap some consolation from the fact that rival Sony's name shows up more than once, proving that for every sip of marketplace success, a company must swallow an ocean of consumer rejection.

Top 10 Great Games That No One Played

200°
360w ago - While the gaming industry has its success stories and million-sellers like Halo, Call of Duty, and World of Warcraft, there are games out there that stood out just as much with fantastic gameplay and unique concepts that didn't sell anywhere near as well.

While they may have not made mountains of money, here is my top 10 games that should be in every gamer's library (but likely aren't).

10. Okami
by Capcom Entertainment

A case of a game doing extremely well in the ratings and selling quite poorly, Okami is looking to get a new lease on life with the upcoming Wii port.

9. Oddworld Stranger's Wrath
by EA Games

Stranger's Wrath had a fantastically realized world and fun and quirky gameplay, but failed to be a mainstream hit.

8. Conker's Bad Fur Day
by Nintendo

Conker's Bad Fur Day stands as both one of the finest platformer games to date as well as a scathing commentary on the genre, but released too date in the N64's life to strike a chord with mainstream gamers.

7. Persona 2: Eternal Punishment
by Atlus USA

Incredibly bizarre story elements and intriguing story elements made Persona 2 worth playing for any RPG fan, but didn't make a huge splash.

6. Shenmue
