Phantasy Star Portable Demo Details, DLC Planned

50°
320w ago - Sega details the two ways of getting the demo for Phantasy Star Portable, a demo UMD will be distributed through selected gaming stores in Japan while the rest of regions can grab it from the PlayStation Store.

As reported earlier, Sega is pretty generous with the demo, you can play the whole of the first chapter and five missions from the multiplayer mode. As a result, it's 301Mb in size and the usual way of distributing demos via "Browser" or website just isn't reliable enough. The date to remember for this is July 14th.

On the other hand, the game's official Web site gets some updates following the Weekly Famitsu report. There are more characters introduced, a TV commercial and finally something Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G fans will be really familiar with, downloadable missions are being planned in future.

New Resistance 2 details for PS3

400°
320w ago - Insomniac Games have revealed some new information on their upcoming first person shooter, Resistance 2. Basically they said that while creating the new big monster, named Leviathan, they had to think about the surrounding areas and extend the range that the engine displays. Levels are now much bigger and in scope and draw space compared to Resistance: Fall of Man.

There's going to be new content shown at E3 that they've never shown before and will show 60 players online multiplayer for the first time. When they show the 60 player online mode, the players will be employee's from both Sony and Insomniac Games from their offices, they are going to do this so they can get the numbers online.

Insomniac Games says that what you've already seen of Resistance 2, when the full game is released it will look a lot better.

"What you've seen earlier on is only gonna get better"

Cinematics are starting to be finalized and look really good. They answered a question they get asked a lot and that is; how do they do their cinematics? They build the enviroments and go down to the motion capture studios, get all the actors they need and basically act out the scene in physical space thats approximated from the enviroments they created.

Once captured they hand it over...

250°
320w ago - Harmonix has just sent out a press release detailing all the new features you can expect to see in Rock Band 2. A few of the highlights are:

- Backwards compatibility with Rock Band downloadable music content.

- All previously purchased tracks will immediately load into your Rock Band 2 song list. No need to re-purchase or re-download. The biggest and most diverse soundtrack ever featuring some of rock's most prolific acts, comprised entirely of master recordings.

- Major new and dynamic online modes that will connect the entire Rock Band community in more ways than ever before both locally and globally.

- More variety of instrument choices than ever before with new and improved drum and guitar peripherals, enhanced functionality and innovative new designs - all fully compatible with the original Rock Band instruments.

Of course, it doesn't stop there. It seems that it will be released exclusively on the Xbox 360 at first. I wonder how much Microsoft shelled out for that deal?

From the press release:

"As successful as the original Rock Band continues to be, we've now had the benefit of the last eight months to listen to our fans' requests and to build upon that foundation," said Alex Rigopulos, co-founder and CEO of Harmonix. "Rock Band 2...

Rumor: Industry Source gives Details on PS3 Motion Controller

50°
323w ago - An anonymous industry source has decided to set a few things straight about an earlier report that stated Sony was working on a new PS3 controller that can "break apart into two separate units, each of which contains an accelerometer for Wiimote-like motion-sensing functionality."

The source stated: The control system actually consists of a smaller-sized device that can attach to the body - and multiple devices are intended to be used in concert, such as wearing two on the hands to move a character's hands in-game, or four, on hands and feet at the same time to move a character's body.

To quote: Though the source admits the technology might have evolved since the last time it was seen, the source disputes the idea that any of these pieces merge to form a single controller.

It is also unclear how the individual pieces will be packaged, whether individually or in sets.
