Video: Inferno Pool for PS3 is Coming to PSN this Week

275w ago - Today Dark Energy Digital Senior Creative Designer Rob Hewson revealed that Inferno Pool for PS3 is coming to PSN this week and has shared a video below.

To quote: It's been five months since the exclusive launch of Inferno Pool on the European PSN Store, and after a bombardment of emails asking when it was going to hit North America we can finally say, Thursday!

Just before the European PSN Store launch, there was a nervous excitement within the team here. When the people who have been developing the game for months on end are still hanging around at lunch and after work for yet another four-player battle royale you feel confident that you have something special. But would the rest of the world get it?

The answer was a resounding yes. There was a real buzz in the studio as the first glowing reviews began to roll in calling it an essential PSN purchase and waxing lyrical about evenings lost in a frenzy of multiplayer action, but the most satisfying thing of all was the reaction from gamers themselves.

Dedicated forums began to pop up discussing strategic ballzooka targeting, how to pull off a kickshot-multiball-combo and how to amass a devastating Endurance Mode time by stringing together a huge potting streak multiplier. In...

Coming to PSN this Week: LocoRoco Midnight Carnival for PSP

50°
275w ago - Today SCEA Santa Monica Producer Tsubasa Inaba has announced that LocoRoco Midnight Carnival PSP is coming to PSN this week.

To quote: Have you all decided on your Halloween costumes yet?
Have you stocked up on candy for the Trick or Treating kids in the neighborhood?

Have you charged your wallets up in preparation for LocoRoco Midnight Carnival for PSP, available this Thursday on PSN for $14.99?

Well, thankfully you have a few more days to get ready! In this week's blog post, we'd like to share a little more on the features, specifically multiplayer!

For the first time in Loco history, you can now race friends through levels! Via Ad Hoc, connect with up to four players and see who can get to the end first. Each player controls their own tilt and bounce action, but you can see their position on your screen so you know when you are neck and neck. To show you how this works, I challenged Kumi, my LocoRoco partner-in-crime here, to a race and we recorded it.

Many of you regular readers may recall a blog post for LocoRoco 2 when we first introduced Ad Hoc competition LocoRoco Minigame called LocoRider. Kumi and I played head to head and she ended up beating me. So this is our rematch!

(She is...

Oddworld Hits PSone Classics on PlayStation Network this Week

200°
276w ago - Oddworld Inhabitants Co-founder & Creative Director Lorne Lanning has announced that two Oddworld titles will be hitting the PSone Classics section on PSN this week, as follows:

Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee and Oddworld: Abe's Exodus PSone Classics are both available on the PlayStation Store for only $9.99 each starting Thursday, October 22.

It was only about six years ago that I told our agent at the time, "Larry, don't you get it!? Our classic Abe games are history. The systems that played them are gone and they aren't coming back.

Ours is a disposable medium and we don't have a Turner Classics channel." He looked at me with this defeated expression and said, "Dude, that's the most depressing thing I've ever heard you say." He believed me, and I too believed it at the time.

Six years later and I have to admit it's great being proved wrong.

We couldn't have been more thrilled when we learned that the PlayStation Network was willing to offer our classic Abe games to an entirely new generation of gamers. Finally, gamers who never got the chance to meet and play him when he first came out on the PSone system, will now get that chance to meet the guy who graced many magazine covers and proved the unlikely hero that captured people's hearts.

Video: Coming to PSN this Week: Trine for PlayStation 3

100°
276w ago - Nobilis Product Manager Olivier Vermeille has revealed today that Trine will be hitting Sony's PSN this week for PlayStation 3.

To quote: I'm really happy to be able to tell you that it's coming to the US PlayStation Store this Thursday, October 22!

This long-expected innovative action / platform game that combines 2D gameplay with 3D graphics is almost here! Acclaimed by players throughout the world, Trine will be available for download Thursday on the PlayStation Network.

Three heroes are bound to a mysterious device called the Trine in a quest to save the kingdom from evil and the player can at any time freely choose whoever is best suited for the upcoming challenge or puzzle.

Trine is balanced between action and puzzle solving sequences, which are just fantastic to play. Thanks to an extensive use of physics, you'll be able to solve puzzles in many different ways, whether you play alone by switching characters or alongside with a friend (up to 3 players simultaneously on the same system). Just take a peek at this trailer and you'll get a sense of what I'm talking about!

For those of you who are always on the hunt for PS3 Trophies, rest assured! I'm thrilled...
