WipEout HD Fury Expansion - Zone Tracks for PlayStation 3

50°
279w ago - As a follow-up to our WipEout HD news from earlier todat, SCEA's Producer Daimion Pinnock has announced the WipEout HD Fury Expansion Zone Tracks.

To quote: We're back with the fourth in our series of developer diaries featuring the WipEout HD Fury add-on pack. This week we have Rita Linsley, an artist from the WipEout HD development team. Enjoy!

1. ZONE: Intro & context

'Zone' is speed experienced in its purest state, with no weapons. From a poetic point of view Zone can be likened to riding an atom in a particle accelerator. The speed of the atom as it 'rides the torus' gets increasingly faster and faster, until ultimately it moves at such surreal speeds that it exists contiguously at all points along its path.

It becomes an omnipresent singularity along this path, a very peculiar entity with 'mixed dimensionality.' If we could become that little atom at that moment we would find ourselves connected to a psychedelic 'speed-dimension.' It would be one hell of a trip! So zone mode is all about surreal abstract geometries, and shifting landscapes of colour that create an otherworldly atmosphere.

Michael Jackson Signed PlayStation Selling for $1.5 Million Dollars

550°
279w ago - It's no surprise that Michael Jackson had a passion for video games. His Neverland Ranch arcade collection was a testament to this, but he also signed a PlayStation once.

That Michael Jackson signed PlayStation is now for sale on [Register or Login to view links], seemingly authentic in signature by the late King of Pop.

To quote: While the starting bid is not ludicrous, the Buy It Now price on eBay certainly is. The seller is willing to part with it right now for $1.5 million.

It's doubly special, according to the seller, being the 1,000,001st PlayStation to roll off the assembly line. Funny, that somehow sounds a little less believable than the Moonwalker actually scribbling "I Love You, Michael Jackson" on a game console.

Retro/Grade Coming to PS3 via PlayStation Network

50°
279w ago - 24 Caret Games Co-founder Matt Gilgenbach has announced news that Retro/Grade is coming to PS3 via PlayStation Network, as follows:

Retro/Grade, the first game played entirely in reverse, will be released on PSN! Actually, let me start from the beginning. I'm Matt Gilgenbach, co-founder of [Register or Login to view links].

We are proud to announce that we will be releasing our first game, Retro/Grade, on the Playstation Network for Playstation 3. Retro/Grade stars ace fighter pilot Rick Rocket who has just saved the universe.

Unfortunately, the massive destruction he left in his wake has caused a temporal anomaly that reversed the flow of time. You must assume control of Rick's spacecraft and fight through the epic space battle... in reverse!

At this point, you may be thinking, "How on earth do you play a game in reverse?" That is a very good question, and after many years of temporal physics research, we've finally come up with the solution. As you can see from our screenshots, Retro/Grade looks like a really exciting shoot 'em up.

However, it actually plays more like a rhythm game. In order to protect the health of the space/time continuum, Rick must undo his actions exactly...

Guide: How to Improve PlayStation 3 Trophy Sync. Speed

400°
279w ago - We all know the problem. While your PS3 Trophy list grows and as more games you install, the synchronize process of the trophies becomes slower and slower.

Now I found a simple solution to fix this problem and speed it up.

Here is the How-To:

1. Shutdown PS3
2. Hold the power-button till the PS3 shuts down by itself after some beeps
3. Hold the power-button down again, till you hear a "double beep"
4. Unhand the button; now the service menu starts
5. Choose option 4 "Rebuild Database"
6. Done, now your PS3 updates the trophies very fast again
