Over 100 New Pieces of Content Hit PlayStation Home Thursday!

50°
278w ago - Today PlayStation Home Online Community Specialist Locust_Star has announced that this Thursday over 100 new pieces of content will be hitting PlayStation Home.

To quote: Attn: Killzone 2 fans. We've seen you in Central Plaza all decked out in your Helghan wares. We've seen you in the Bowling Alley showing your love for the ISA. We've heard you proudly boasting your Warzone rank in the Gamer's Lounge.

So we know that this Thursday, August 27th, you'll be rushing into PlayStation Home to grab the new KZ2 content we'll have waiting for you - specifically, the Killzone 2 Visari Throne Room.

This special personal space is based on the final stage of Killzone 2 in Scolar Visari's Palace and is the absolute ideal gathering space for you and your KZ2-obsessed friends.

Releasing in tandem with the Visari Throne Room will be a variety of virtual items that you can use to customize your area (including the Helghan Defense Painting - my personal fave). Check out the video below for a sneak peek of this space and other Killzone 2 items available in PlayStation Home.

We know that you guys and gals love collecting personal spaces, furniture, and gear for your avatar, which is why we've been working night...

PlayStation 3 Slim Teardown - PS3 Slim Motherboard First Look!

650°
278w ago - We have waited a while to see the redesigned Slim PS3, and its hardware - to be honest, its not that "slim" compared to previous versions. Thanks to joinmeindeath417 of TechPowerUp (linked above), we get to take a look!

Compared to the later motherboard revisions of the PS3 Motherboard, it is somewhat in line - the "additions" come with a smaller cooler, smaller PSU, and slimmer BD-Rom drive, as well as a slightly redesigned motherboard (not too much however).

But, compared to the CECHA it's a big difference, but compared to the later model motherboards (CECHL and on), it is mostly the same.

The only differences are more integrated components, less power supply "bits" spread about the board, but nevertheless - mostly the same.

Sony to Launch Huge European PlayStation 3 Marketing Campaign

50°
278w ago - Sony is set to launch an £82m pan-European marketing campaign for the PlayStation 3, firing the first advertising salvo against rivals Nintendo Wii and Microsoft Xbox as consumers start to think about presents for Christmas 2009.

The TV element of the campaign, which has been developed by the TBWA agency, marks a departure from Sony's traditional tactic of often esoteric and dark commercials.

To quote: The new set of TV ads, the first of which launch in the UK tonight, focus on the simpler aim of describing the range of services available on the PS3. These include online gaming and Blu-ray movies, downloading TV and film content and being able to watch the BBC iPlayer.

"Two years after launch, PlayStation 3 is realising its full potential," said Alan Duncan, UK marketing director. "The console is moving beyond gaming and gaming is moving beyond discs."

PlayStation Network Cards Selling in Game Cases in Europe

550°
278w ago - It appears Sony Europe has money to burn, as they will be selling PlayStation Network Cards in standard Blu-ray game cases in Europe.

They will be available in September, in both £20 and £50 denominations.

To quote: "PlayStation Network Cards are, for some, the only way to add credit easily to your PlayStation Network wallet.

The idea is simple - purchase a PlayStation Network Card from a shop, enter the 12-digit code and fill up your Store wallet.

The odd thing? SCEE will be using real plastic Blu-ray boxes to house them in, presumably so it makes you think you're getting something tangible and also, we guess, to make the retail outlets a bit happier."
