inFamous Demo for PlayStation 3 is Available Now!

550°
278w ago - Today several users on the official PlayStation boards (linked above) are reporting that they have been able to download the inFamous Demo for PS3.

Apparently those who received an early demo code for the title can grab it as the code validates as of today. To quote from miahdeadbeat's feedback thus far:

OK, just finished the first quest... I think this will be a good game... its very open.

Graphics are not amazing but interactivity is rad.... I wanna see more story... so far I have just electracuted everything in sight... the controls are nice and I find myself jumping onto things easily enough... sometimes its tricky when a ledge is offset with another.

I just saw a bystander come running up and take a picture of cole in game... so I shocked the hell outta her and then threw a sonic blast into three cars that smashed a group of people into some payphones.

This game rocks as far as sandbox gameplay! Now onto the next mission... wonder how many are on the demo.

PS: Music is damn good so far... atmospheric and professional.

PSS: Bio leech is way too cool. Its where someone is almost dead so you stick a finger in the mouth of the poor clown and sap his health. hmmm... I wonder if I can make cole evil in the demo or if its not able...

Sony Announces Vidzone Service for the PlayStation 3 Console

400°
278w ago - As part of Sony's Pause event in Sydney, Sony Computer Entertainment Australia announced a new service coming exclusively to the PlayStation 3 - Vidzone.

The new service is an optional download that places a new icon on the cross-media bar (XMB), allowing access to a massive number of music videos on demand.

VidZone will also be bringing live concert videos, as well as behind the scenes, interviews and making of footage, to your TV when it launches on PS3.

To quote: According to Michael Ephraim, Managing Director of Sony Computer Entertainment Australia, the service is aiming for a June launch, possibly to coincide with E3 - though this is subject to change.

The service itself, which is listed under 'music' on the XMB as a small TV set with a 'Z' in it, is free to all PS3 owners who choose to install the application. However, revenue appears to be generated from ad placement within the browser window.

While in the Vidzone, you can search for artists, by track, genre or album and you can save playlists. The menu is a simple up/down scroll through letters, rather than the pop-up menu generally used.

The selected video can be maximized with a tap of select, instantly filling the screen with sharp, streaming video content. You can also pause, fast-forward...

Enormous Update Coming to Sony's PlayStation Home

200°
278w ago - PlayStation Home Online Community Specialist Locust_Star broke news today on an enormous update that will be heading to Sony's PlayStation Home.

To quote: Locust_Star here dropping in to give you the straight truth on what new goodies to expect in PlayStation Home this week. Simply put, this is one of the biggest content updates in the history of Home - and we think you're going to dig what we have in store for you.

By popular demand, we have brought the Siren: Blood Curse space over from Japan (this space will appear in the [Register or Login to view links] at a later date). The basic overview is this: The Siren Home space is broken up into three basic zones. When you first enter the Siren space, you're outside the Ward of Despair, in what looks like an old, rundown carnival space. The entrance to the Ward is just a few steps away.

Upon entering it, you'll find yourself in the mini-game's lobby. Inside you'll see video screens on the walls and places to sit and mingle with other players waiting their turn to enter the Ward of Despair mini game.

When you're ready to play, simply approach the receptionist and she'll send you into the Ward (assuming that the background downloading is complete, which begins upon entry to the lobby...

PSP Patapons Invade Retail and Sony's PlayStation Home!

100°
278w ago - SCEA Associate Producer Chris Hinojosa-Miranda announced today news that PSP Patapons are set to invade both retail as well as Sony's PlayStation Home online community.

To quote: It's a beautiful [Register or Login to view links] and as we speak, thousands of magical keys (read: PSN vouchers) are heading towards a destination near you...ready to unlock the internet's mighty download powers, filling your PSP with Patapon bliss.

In addition to these vouchers hitting the store shelves, on Thursday, May 7th, you will all be able to download Patapon 2 from the PlayStation Network and the Patapon 2 mass consumption can begin.

But that's not the only thing happening on May 7th.

We also wanted to announce really exciting Home exclusives (two actually). First: yours truly will be featured in the Home Theater, answering a few of questions posted in the forums by the Home Community.

Second: We've decided that this Thursday is also Home avatar makeover day...so we are giving you an exclusive Patapon 2 t-shirt (for boys and girls!). It's definitely time for you to upgrade your Home look with something more Eyeballish and warrior like.

Now, be honest... wouldn't you want to dress up your Home avatar...

StageSet Machinima Tool for PlayStation Home Coming Soon

100°
278w ago - According to some [Register or Login to view links] at Loot, Sony is poised to release a Machinima Utility for PlayStation Home.

The reports say this could be realized within a couple of weeks. The developer of the project wanted to combine the best aspects of Home: social activity and interactive experiences.

To quote: Instead of making a traditional game, or even an ARG (which is the way a lot of Home development was going), we wanted to make something that would really encourage the player to get together with their friends and have some fun.

Being spawned from a movie company, it is pretty easy to see how we were inspired to make a movie stage/set. It's really cool to walk through the lot every day and peek inside the huge stages, so we figured that other people would be psyched to have their own stage and even make some movies, too.

After that, we went crazy putting all sorts of lighting and camera controls, green screens, backdrops, etc in the limited amount of time we had.
