Demon's Souls is Now Available for PlayStation 3

277w ago - Today Atlus' Manager of Public Relations and Sales Aram Jabbari has announced that Demon's Souls is officially released for Sony's PlayStation 3 console.

To quote: The Kingdom of Boletaria is now open to you, brave adventurers: Demon's Souls for PlayStation 3 is now available in retailers across North America.

For months leading up to its release, we've emphasized the game's difficulty level, striving in every instance not to misrepresent the game and to ensure that curious gamers are not caught off guard by the challenges that await them. That said, we don't want anyone to steer clear of the game because of what they've heard. If that is not the perfect segue into some starting tips for new heroes, then I don't know what is.

Mild Spoiler Alert:

Your first task in Demon's Souls, before even jumping into the game world, is to create your character. Demon's Souls offers 10 different player classes, each with different starting stats and equipment.

Unlike many RPGs, Demon's Souls does not punish players for choosing something out of line with their play style. Regardless of which class you pick, you'll be able to eventually do anything another class is more capable of at the start; all it takes is a little extra work.

Rumor: PlayStation Motion Controller is Codenamed 'Sphere'

300°
278w ago - Sony's upcoming PlayStation Motion Controller may be codenamed 'sphere' according to JoyStiq (linked above).

Currently both Microsoft and Sony don't have official names for their motion projects, although Microsoft has dubbed their technology as 'Project Natal'.

To quote: "One name Sony may be using with developers is "Sphere," a word that highlights the glowing, colored orb central to the motion controller's technology.

Sega producer Yasuhito Baba and his translator both referred to the controller as "Sphere" during an interview at Tokyo Game Show last month.

Polyphony Digital's Kazunori Yamauchi also talked about the PlayStation Motion Controller when we asked him if Gran Turismo would support the "Sphere" peripheral."

Will the PS3 Motion Controller be known as 'sphere' or is it simply a developmental name? Time will tell...

European PlayStation Store Update for October 1, 2009

50°
278w ago - Today Mike Kebby of the SCEE PlayStation Store Team has posted up the European PlayStation Store update, as follows:

So, we've finally arrived to this week's update - I hope you're all ready for the rundown, as there's a lot of content on offer this week.

Usually I list the PS3 specific content first, but seeing as this week we're all excited about the PSP Go launch, the new Media Go store launching (replacing the PC based Media Manager application), and the first batch of minis titles hitting the store, the PSP content list will take the headlining slot today.

The minis range of titles launches with games such as Tetris, Fieldrunners, Pinball Fantasies and Hero of Sparta available (amongst others), and these bitesize games (all under 100MB) come in under the £4/€5 mark and offer a lot of value for their size!

We also have brand new PSP games released such as Gran Turismo, MotorStorm Arctic Edge, PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe, and Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny (with our favourite God of War Kratos featuring as a playable character) and also available from Friday morning we'll have FIFA 10 and Beaterator.

The games for PSP don't stop there though, with a host of legacy titles hitting the store featuring such titles as Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City...
