GDC '09: PlayStation Home to Launch Three Spaces a Month

100°
279w ago - At GDC 2009 PlayStation Home director Jack Buser stated that Sony is planning to launch at least three Home spaces a month.

To quote: "You'll see about three new spaces launched a month - I'll be shocked if we ever go under that number, we have so much in the pipeline," Buser said.

He mentioned that a recent "good space" (we're guessing Resident Evil 5) had a quarter of a million visits a week in the US, with 75 per cent of visitors spending more than 10 minutes there - something that far exceeds consumer's usual involvement with advertising, he argued.

Space devlopment takes four to six months, and Sony has new technology that can't be seen in any space currently in Home, Buser said.

Buser's talk, "Developer opportunities in PlayStation Home", amounted to a sales pitch aimed at developers and publishers.

"Online games consoles have had the concept of the friends list for some time," he said, splitting online friends into two groups - those you meet online, and those you know in real life.

"We noticed at Sony a problem with the friends list with the first group - you don't really know them. We wanted a place, a neutral environment, where players could go and really get to know each other outside of the context of a particular game," said Buser....

With each turn a new note is added to the tune, and when a player misses a note they are knocked out of the game until only one player is left standing. A local leaderboard captures the highest scores in real time so the true champion gets their due props and the losers are...

PlayStation Home Summer House Save Glitch Discovered

550°
279w ago - Update: I can [Register or Login to view links] the save works even on accounts and PS3's that do not have the Summer House installed. I removed all Save data Game data and Home data. After I reinstalled home, copied the exploit save over and booted up Home it asked me to download the Summerhouse and install it. Viola!

Note you can't teleport to it via PDA but can enter it via Central Plaza (Home Square) etc.

Download: [Register or Login to view links] [Right-click, Save As]

I have discovered that when I copied my main PSN account Home Settings save over to my other master accounts and I had the default Home space set to the Summerhouse it remained that way and when I logged into home I appeared in the Summerhouse (which I only purchased with my main PSN account).

I have built a save for you all to try out. It has been tested with US, Euro, HK and Jap accounts and works with all accounts and PS3's that do not have the Summer House installed. Read me for install notes included in .rar file.

Regards,
Krack3n

Video: Infamous: Karma System Hands-on for PlayStation 3

50°
280w ago - Infamous is the first PlayStation 3 outing from Sucker Punch, the guys behind the much-loved Sly Cooper games.

In this title, you'll pick up the pieces of Cole's life in a nearly destroyed world. See, Cole was an ordinary messenger who saw Empire City collapse when a package he was delivering exploded in his hands and leveled a large section of town.

When Cole came out of his coma, he found Empire City completely quarantined off from the rest of the world, riots in the street, mutated gangs in control, and his body infused with electrical super-powers. Now able to shoot electrical blasts from his hands, survive falls from the top of buildings, and knock cars into the air with telekinetic blasts, it's up to Cole to protect his friends and survive this brave new world.

The interesting thing about all of this is the fact that Cole doesn't have to use his powers for the good of all mankind -- he can be as selfish as you want him to be. See, Infamous employs a seven-level Karma System that monitors your actions and lets you know how good or bad Cole is being.

See, this will all be broken down in a little crescent-shaped meter next to your power level. If...
