Video: PlayStation Home Ratchet & Clank & Deadquarters Space

50°
276w ago - Today PlayStation Home Online Community Specialist Locust_Star has shared a video introducing Ratchet & Clank and a Deadquarters personal space to Sony's PlayStation Home.

To quote: this is the time where we can finally loosen our lips and spill the beans about all the cool PlayStation Home content that we've been working hard to bring you, the PlayStation Home community. And today is especially exciting, because we get to announce one of the single best game spaces to ever grace this platform.

Ratchet & Clank: Time Travelers is arguably the most interactive environment we've published during this phase of Open Beta. Boasting three mini-games ranging from super-casual to über-deep - like the massive Skunk Works' tower defense game - this space is jam-packed with things to do, rewards to win, virtual items to collect (like a full-on Ratchet outfit), and sheep to wrangle (huh?).

We're even releasing a Ratchet & Clank apartment - set in a galaxy far, far away - that is a must-have for every die-hard fan of the franchise. And this space is even launching ahead of Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time, which means that if you want a taste of the future of the Ratchet & Clank series, you have to get into PlayStation Home. Put your eyes on the below vid, as PlayStation Home...

XCM Cross Battle Adapter 2.0 for PlayStation 3 Arrives

550°
277w ago - Today we received word from the folks over at [Register or Login to view links] that their new [Register or Login to view links] for PlayStation 3 has arrived.

For those who aren't already familiar with it, the XCM Cross Battle Adapter 2.0 allows you to connect your XBox 360 wired controller to your PS3 console for use with PS3 games.

Some pictures are available below, and to quote from their page: "The XCM Cross Battle Adapter 2.0 is built with a new function for swapping the controller's triggers and bumpers. You can also swap the functions of A,B,X,Y buttons (Example: Set the function of A button to the X button or set the function of B button to the Y button, etc) and swap the functions of 2 analog sticks as well!

The PS3 SixAxis mode and Rumble function are also supported. The best adapter in the industry just got better!"

PlayStation Home Avatars Now Include Free Wolverine Claws

200°
277w ago - European PS3 gamers who view the two-minute long trailer for X-Men Origins: Wolverine at Sony's PlayStation Home Theatre will then find a free set of Wolverine Claws waiting for them in the Threads store of the Home Mall.

Unfortunately, these are non-functional weapons so you won't be able to go on a virtual rampage in Home... but free is always nice!

To quote: "As of today, it gets a little more dangerous with the addition of wearable Wolverine claws in Sony's virtual social space.

In an effort to promote the release of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, this year's best mutant action-comedy, on Blu-ray and DVD, Twentieth Century Fox and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe are giving away free adamantium upgrades to Home users. And they're giving away a free animated shirt. They call it a vest in Europe, which sounds much nicer than "wife-beater."

How does one get these lovely prizes?

Well, all one needs to do is visit the old Threads Store in Home, presumably after visiting the Home Theatre to watch a preview of the Blu-ray release."

PlayStation Home-esque Experience Coming to XBox Live?

300°
277w ago - Today Joystiq (linked above) received some interesting info from a reader, who claimed to have taken part in a survey run by Microsoft which featured avatars playing classic arcade games in a virtual arcade setting.

If that sounds familiar, you probably played PlayStation Home before.

To quote: If a consumer survey sent over to us by a tipster is to be believed, Microsoft is looking to bring a virtual Avatar arcade to the Xbox 360. Some of the potential names listed in the survey are "Game Room," "RetroCade," "Tower of ROM," and "Classics LIVE." Yeah, we're partial to "Tower of ROM" also.

If the proposed service sounds familiar, that's because it's nearly identical to PlayStation Home's arcade spaces - like Namco's virtual arcade - just replace the dead-eyed dopplegangers of Home with the scrunchable avatars of Xbox 360.

The second survey question sent to us asks, "Which of the following names would most compel you to purchase the product?" indicating that the "Tower of ROM" might not be a free space but could instead have a fee associated with it.
