PlayStation 3 Sales Jump Over 1000% on PS3 Slim Release

550°
275w ago - Chart-Track has told GamesIndustry.biz (linked above) that sales of the PlayStation 3 have jumped over 999% in the past week, shifting eleven times the number of units sold the prior week.

As Sony introduced the new, slimmer SKU, and although Chart-Track does not reveal actual sales numbers, Dorian Bloch, director of the firm called the growth "a huge increase".

To quote: "The uplift on week 36 on week 35 is plus 999 per cent," revealed Bloch. "We don't give out the hardware numbers, but never-the-less it's a very large increase."

The boost in sales will be a pleasing early start to the Christmas season for Sony, which told GamesIndustry.bizlast month that it expected the redesign to pull in new consumers.

"I think what I've heard anecdotally is that this is the point people were waiting for - a redesigned model and, in Euros, a significant price reduction," said Andrew House, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. "That's people's cue to jump into the business."

Rockstar Games: AGENT Set for a 2010 Release on PlayStation 3

276w ago - Although hardly any information on the upcoming AGENT videogame for PlayStation 3 is available from the official [Register or Login to view links], Rockstar Games will apparently release Agent in 2010.

Here is what their development team recently posted, to quote:

"We appreciate the enthusiasm of PlayStation 3 owners and believe us, we understand where you're coming from.

That's why we are working hard on a lineup of PlayStation 3 releases for 2010 that we know you will be very excited to play - including Red Dead Redemption, Max Payne 3, and the PlayStation 3 exclusive AGENT, which is a brand-new title from Rockstar North, the creators of the Grand Theft Auto series.

Plus there's more yet to be announced... Thanks again for your patience and please stay with us!"

Finally, when asked for more Agent details on their [Register or Login to view links], Rockstar simply replied:

"Thank you - it's not likely we will have any more news this year, but the game is shaping up to be something truly spectacular."

Video: PlayStation Store Enhanced with Two New View Modes

250°
276w ago - Last year, after the complete PlayStation Store revamp, Sony allowed gamers to change the view mode of the items displayed on the PlayStation Store from just pictures to a list format.

They have now added two more modes that you can see in the video below.

To quote: "You can now view the icons in different sizes with either three, four or five per row. This will especially benefit people with giant or tiny size TVs.

If you have a small TV for instance, you may want the icons taking up extra space on the screen so they are easier to identify. Or big screen users may like the option to see more items per screen, reducing the need to scroll.

This isn't anything major of course but it is good to see that Sony are still improving the store all the time."

Sony Says 'Thanks' for Being a PlayStation Network Customer

550°
276w ago - Today a PlayStation Network promotion wrapped in a 'Thank You' note was sent from Sony to sent to select PSN customers.

While some appear to welcome it for being a loyal customer over the last three years (and spending hundreds of dollars on PSN), others share the "Sony, you should've have. No, really. You shouldn't have." attitude.

To quote: "Are you a regular user of the PSN? Chances are you probably are. Well then, you might want to check your emails.

We just got a message from Sony saying "Hey, thanks for being a loyal customer". We say, that's absolutely not a problem Sony. Don't worry if you didn't get one of these. They're more an advert then anything else."

Did anyone get one here? If so, feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below!
