PlayStation PSPGo Gives Parents Ratings Guidance on the Go

50°
275w ago - Today Patricia E. Vance, President of the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB), has revealed that PSPGo will offer parents ratings guidance.

To quote: [Register or Login to view links] ratings are familiar to all gamers and most parents, as well.

However, despite high awareness and use of the ESRB ratings, it's still critically important that we as an industry sustain our efforts to educate parents about the rating system and the tools we provide that help them manage the games their children play.

To that end, SCEA is doing its part with the [Register or Login to view links] that comes pre-loaded right on the new PSPgo device itself. I got a peek at the Guide as it was being developed and it was great to see its straight-forward and thorough overview of the ESRB rating system as well as a step-by-step walkthrough of the device's parental control features and settings.

Definitions of the ESRB age rating categories and content descriptors give parents a good understanding of how the ratings work, examples of titles that carry each of the ratings provide a useful point of reference, and the tutorial on setting up parental controls makes putting those ratings to work on the system a quick and easy...

Rumor: 250GB PlayStation 3 Slim Uncharted 2 Bundle Leaked?

300°
276w ago - Update: As expected, SCEA denies the photo (just like the PS3 Slim ones) and told Engadget that there's no bundles being planned for America, but that they can't speak for other regions (e.g. Europe, Japan).

Following the PS3 Slim 250GB bundle rumor from last week comes another- Engadget (linked above) is reporting that a 250GB PlayStation 3 Slim Uncharted 2 bundle has now surfaced.

To quote: "No sooner do we get a 250GB Xbox 360 on the horizon does this image land in our tip box, showing a PlayStation 3 slim bundle for Uncharted 2 that just so happens to have that 250GB hard drive we spotted in the FCC last month.

We've been able to independently confirm that it's legit, but beyond that we've got no clue when it'll be announced or any price / release date information. We wouldn't be surprised to see this hit stores in mid-October alongside Uncharted 2, but that's just a guess on our part.

With any luck, SCE exec Kaz Hirai will be shedding some light at his Tokyo Game Show keynote next week - c'mon Sony, don't keep us in the dark too long."

Free Realms Hits PS3 Mid-2010, May Support PlayStation Eye

50°
276w ago - Should be go, they're talking about PS Eye support too!

To quote: The Q&A session following the Free Realms centric keynote speech, delivered earlier today by Sony Online Entertainment president John Smedley at GDC Austin, contained a hopeful tidbit for those looking to play the aforementioned free-to-play MMO on their consoles.

When we asked about the release window for the PS3 version of Free Realms, Smedley cheekily replied, "I'm wondering, too!" He then added, "It's next year sometime, toward the middle of the year."

During his speech, Smedley also addressed the functions which would be specifically tailored for the MMO's console outing, saying, "For the PlayStation 3 version, it's very likely that the Eye is going to be something we support."

Star Ocean: The Last Hope is Coming to PlayStation 3

350°
276w ago - Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope is officially heading to the PlayStation 3 as rumored, despite Square Enix denying it initially.

The latest Famitsu issue (pictured below) reveals that the previously Xbox 360 exclusive game will be ported to the PS3 as Star Ocean: The Last Hope International. It will be released in Japan on February 4, 2010 and ship simultaneously worldwide

To quote: "The tri-Ace developed, Square Enix published Star Ocean: The Last Hope was released on the Xbox 360 earlier this year. The title is not an Xbox 360 exclusive, it's coming to the PlayStation 3.

Dubbed Star Ocean: The Last Hope International, the game will be hitting the PS3 February 4, 2010 and priced at 8,190 (US$90).

The game features reworked menu screens and a tweaked battle system with auto-targeting. SO4: International also features English and Japanese voice acting options. It really is international!"
