Blame Microsoft for Final Fantasy XIII Delay on PlayStation 3

275w ago - There is word trickling out of a business meeting today by Square Enix, that Final Fantasy XIII will not be hitting our shores till mid 2010.

This is definitely unacceptable coming from a company known for its stellar RPG franchise. Square Enix is to blame for this mishap, but the blame also falls squarely on Microsoft.

Square Enix has mentioned in the past that the PS3 version was practically finished and going through the final touch-ups for release in Japan this year. So, why is it that the US and Europe will be getting the game one year later? Square Enix execs have made it crystal clear that the game will not hit our shores until the porting/development has finished for the Xbox 360.

In a recent meeting, Square Enix revealed that the earliest US and Europe would see Final Fantasy XIII would be in April of 2010. Originally, the execs at Square Enix hinted that the game would arrive in 2009 for the US territory. However, this all changed after last E3, where the studio heads revealed that a deal has been struck just before the conference with Microsoft, for a simultaneous release on the PS3 and Xbox 360.

When I first heard that there was going to be a delay due to the decision to port over Final Fantasy XIII to the Xbox 360, I was okay with getting a late 2009 release in...

XCM Dominator Joystick for PlayStation 3 Available Next Week

50°
275w ago - Just under a month ago we announced the new XCM Dominator Joystick for PS3.

Today, we received an update from the folks over at XCM stating that it will be available next week from their Resellers. Additionally, they have made available some new pictures of it below for those interested.

Finally, to recap on its features: With a normal controller this task is nearly impossible to combine 4-8 different button attacks with the proper timing to pull special moves.

The XCM Dominator Joystick solves this problem, and lets you execute these combos with ease. Just program the keys to a special button and then you only need to press that button to pull off those special moves.

The XCM Dominator Joystick includes 2 very special features: Combo Attacker and Independent Rapid Fire. This will allow you to dominate your opponents with ease. With these 2 features in hand fighting games will never be the same again!

Rumor: Left 4 Dead Coming to the PlayStation 3 Console?

300°
275w ago - Update: Added the other two pictures from GW including the N4G screen.

By now Left 4 Dead has had enough publicity for people to know that it's an exclusive to the 360. Now, that may have changed.

An N4G poster by the handle of Graphics Whore has stated that the zombie killing mayhem may have found it's way to PS3.

Normally, forum posts are ignored and called all sorts of childish names, but "Graphics" even brought the storm with pictures snapped at home with his own N4G screen and a preorder card from Bestbuy.

What's your take gamers? Is Bestbuy going to be returning money to people or has L4D hit the Big Black Box with the zombie fun?

Sony Refuses PlayStation Brand on Sony Ericsson, No PSP Phone

300°
275w ago - MobileToday (linked above) is reporting that there is no PSP phone as Sony refused Sony Ericsson to use the PlayStation brand after pitching to the board late last year.

Apparently there has been a fall out because of the refusal to use the PlayStation brand, so a PSP phone is looking far less likely now.

To quote: Sony is understood to have refused to allow Sony Ericsson the use of its PlayStation brand, after the handset manufacturer presented a pitch to the board late last year.

Sony Ericsson was planning to develop a PSP phone to capitalise on the growing success of the gaming sector, and after the success of Cyber-shot and Walkman handsets.

Sources said the refusal to sanction the brand on the handsets in December has prompted a fallout between Sony and the mobile phone joint venture.

Several sources close to the matter claimed Sony executives told colleagues at Sony Ericsson that it would only license the PlayStation brand if and when Sony makes handsets independently - effectively pushing for an exit From The joint venture with Ericsson.
