Full Details on Patch #2 for Madden 09

50°
308w ago - Details on items that have been fixed with the second patch for Madden 09 are the topic of a brand new blog posted by producer Ian Cummings on the Madden 09 Web site.

Included are the disconnects that have been plaguing online, franchise progression, fixed exploits including the WR Direct Snap and Deep Ball glitches, field degradation, and gameplay improvements. Most of the gripes consumers have had with the game look as though they'll be addressed in the coming patch. Not sure there is much more you can ask for out of this.

The work on the patch has been completed and is being submitted to MS and Sony on Tuesday. This puts the time frame to expect it to arrive still at least a few weeks out. Continue on to read the full list of issues and workarounds.

1. Kicking play disconnect: If two opponents play a game with two different camera angles, in any situation where a game winning or tying kick was to be made, a disconnect could occur. "ActionCam" forces the game to go into slow-motion to add drama to these late kicks, but unfortunately the Classic camera does not, thus forcing the "disconnect". This has been fixed...all cameras can still be used as well.

Workaround until the patch: If possible, ensure that you and your opponent have the same camera type chosen before...

GC 2008: GTA IV PC Details and Screens Available

200°
309w ago - Earlier today Rockstar gave us the first ever look at Grand Theft Auto IV running on PC. And while you can read our quite favorable impressions in our full GTA IV PC preview and check out all the screenshots, it's worth noting some of the specific enhancements for the PC version.

First of all, the visuals. Running at a maximum resolution of 2560 x 1600, the game's PC port offers all sorts of visual enhancements over its console counterparts, from a further draw distance to up-rezzed textures.

Then there's the replay mode. The game always records the last 30 seconds of whatever you do, and at any moment you can tap a button on the keyboard to capture a video clip. You're then able to edit together these clips in a montage editor and export your own home videos to Rockstar's Social Club website.

Perhaps best of all, though, are the multiplayer enhancements. Though Rockstar has teased about these in the past, it stated that the PC version will support more than the 16 players that the console versions had -- exactly how many more we don't yet know. Rockstar also mentioned that GTA IV on PC will offer improved searching and filtering to find the type of multiplayer games you're most interested in joining.

From what we saw and heard, GTA IV on PC is definitely worth getting excited...

309w ago - At Sony's ongoing conference at Games Convention 2008 in Leipzig, SCEE president David Reeves announced that the long-rumored PSP-3000 goes on sale this fall worldwide, pinning an October 15 date for EMEA territories.

As expected, the new model is a hardware refresh, adding a built-in microphone, as well as an enhanced LCD screen with significantly less glare and more vibrant colors. Cosmetically, the PSP-3000 sports slightly smoother curves compared to the design of the current Slim & Lite revision.

It'll ship in eight separate hardware bundle packages in Europe, with each priced at 199€.

For those of us outside of Europe, SCEA has confirmed that the PSP-3000 will be sold initially in North America through the previously announced Ratchet & Clank Entertainment Pack on October 14, as well as a new 4GB Entertainment Pack due out in November.

Both packs will cost $199.99. A standalone pack with the updated model, still priced at $169.99, will be available "later this year."
