Details on PlayStation Home Audi Space, Arrives in December

250°
274w ago - A new Audi space is set for a December release in PlayStation Home, and will include the "Vertical Run" mini-game.

Within the game, apparently participants can drive the e-tron concept car through challenges and be rewarded by unlocking Audi apartments.

To quote from [Register or Login to view links]: "The goal of Vertical Run is to beat the competition in a multiplayer challenge by collecting enough electrical energy and avoiding driving errors in the e-tron, in order to reach the highest possible speed.

The best drivers in the Vertical Run game will be able to access special spaces around the world called "Audi apartments," though I'm not sure what exactly are in the apartments."

Details are slim beyond that, but this would be the first time apartments are available to win in a mini-game and it sounds like thar will be a variety of apartments up for grabs.

PS3 JIG Pictures Surface, PlayStation 3 Service Mode Tests Begin

850°
274w ago - Recently Dutch user Sinnerman has leaked some new PS3 JIG pictures on the QJ.net (linked above) forums, and has revealed that PlayStation 3 Service Mode testing is underway with SKFU.

The application pictured below is used to create registry files required to finalize the PlayStation 3 JIG (SVC-H3A606SS) process, which must contain a valid e-mail address as they are authenticated with the SCEI server.

While we await the test results (and hopefully some PS3 JIG internal pictures), some related articles on both Sony's elusive PS3 JIG and PS3 Service Mode are as follows for those who may have missed them: PlayStation 3 Service Mode JIG Set-Up Files Leaked, Some PlayStation 3 Service Mode Details and finally PS3 Controller EEPROM Dumped And Service Mode Information.

Finally, the big question.. what if PS3 Retail consoles could be converted to PS3 Debug consoles through the PS3 JIG? Well, depending on the post-modification differences...

Sega: Valkyria Chronicles Series Could Return to PlayStation 3

250°
275w ago - Valkyria Chronicles is one of the best exclusive games on the PlayStation 3. For that reason, many fans were upset to learn that Valkyria Chronicles II is only coming to the PSP.

Sega isn't completely shutting down the door to another Valkyria Chronicles game for the PlayStation 3 just yet, however.

Aaron Webber, the Assistant Community Manager for Sega of America, responded with the following [Register or Login to view links] on the European Playstation.Blog when a fan showed disdain for Valkyria Chronicles II being exclusive to the PSP, to quote:

"So far it seems like most of the fans are really just happy to see the series continue - and, if VCII sells well, it means a much greater chance that the series can pick up again back on a larger console, like the PS3."

So, oddly enough, a new Valkyria Chronicles game on the PlayStation 3 could depend on the sales of Valkyria Chronicles II for the PSP. The handheld sequel will be released in Europe and North America during the summer of 2010.

Yakuza 3 for PlayStation 3 is Coming to US and European Markets

400°
275w ago - Some Yakuza 3 PlayStation 3 (Japanese) videos surfaced last year, and now it appears as though Yakuza 3 will be heading to the west.

According to 1UP (linked above), Sega is currently working on localizing the title for a western release. Sega doesn't confirm this announcement, but it gives fans a reason to hope it does happen.

To quote: "According to sources close to the project, Yakuza 3 is currently being localized for release in the U.S. and European markets."

With the Tokyo Game Show happening later this week, the chances of an announcement there are very strong. Since the first two games had abysmal sales in the US, hopefully, PS3 owners will actually buy Yakuza 3.

Let's hope Sega makes a formal announcement in the very near future.

Videos: Uncharted 2 First Online Reviews for PlayStation 3

300°
275w ago - Naughty Dog's Senior Manager of Marketing Communications Arne Meyer has shared some Uncharted 2 PS3 reviews today on the PlayStation Blog... including IGN and GamesRadar, to quote:

Things are picking up steam for us as we head into the final weeks before Uncharted 2: Among Thieves releases worldwide in October. It's hard to believe that just nine months ago, we announced UNCHARTED 2 with our [Register or Login to view links] at the 2008 SPIKE Video Game Awards.

We took the next few months to slowly tease out more information on our single-player campaign until we dropped the bomb in late April that we were including multiplayer gameplay modes in UNCHARTED 2. Everyone at Naughty Dog worked exceptionally hard to get those modes ready to provide everyone with a small preview of what we were up to when we launched our Multiplayer Beta during E3 2009.

Not only did we feel great that everyone was finally getting some hands-on time with UNCHARTED 2 multiplayer, but we were equally stoked to end E3 2009 with over 20 awards, including 6 "Best in Show" awards.
