Confirmed: LittleBigPlanet IS region-free, worldwide content for all!

200°
307w ago - SCE has revealed that the producer of LittleBigPlanet wrongly told journalists that LittleBigPlanet will be region-locked, as previously reported.

Sam_Protagonist (SCE Development) just posted up "This is in fact not the case, and all shared levels in the game will be available worldwide."

To quote: Hi all, as many of you may have heard already in an interview at Leipzig the senior producer for LittleBigPlanet announced that the game is region locked.

This is in fact not the case, and all shared levels in the game will be available worldwide. The confusion arose out of regional differences in how moderation will work as there are different legal rules each region have to play by, and at one point this looked like it may require the game to be independent in each region - however this has been worked around and there will only be one region for the game.... a LittleBigRegion.

Apologies for any confusion over this issue, however I'm pretty sure you're happy with the result.

GC 2008: PS3 Home Update - It is coming this year, and FREE!

50°
307w ago - Martijn Van der Meulen, a Producer on Home, has said that "it is a 100 percent guarantee that Home will be released by the end of this calendar year.

There had been concern that Sony may one day charge for PlayStation Home, but Meulen says that "there are no plans to charge for Home, even in the far future."

To quote in full: Home. We've been waiting for it for quite some time now and some gamers were beginning to think it would never arrive at all. But here at the German Games Convention, Home did in fact make an appearance at the top of a stylish, multi-tiered patio structure built into Sony's booth. I had the pleasure of sitting down with Martijn Van der Meulen, a Producer on Home, to talk about what's going on with the free software that promises to revolutionize the way PS3 owners interact with one another online.

First and foremost, Van der Meulen told me (without hesitation) that it is a 100 percent guarantee that Home will be released by the end of this calendar year. He has absolutely no doubt that this will be the case, so it looks like the long wait to come Home is finally reaching its conclusion. Van der Meulen also assured me, quite adamantly, that Home will always be a free service -- only premium content will need to be purchased. I know some gamers were concerned that...

Ninja Gaiden II Freezing Temporary Fix

50°
309w ago - If you're one of the people experiencing the freezing problem in Ninja Gaiden II since the last title update was released, we have the temporary fix for you! According to a majority of the people having this problem, you can play Ninja Gaiden II without any problems by deleting your hard drive's cache and playing the game offline. It might take some time for Tecmo and Microsoft to come up with a patch, so this solution might help you.

By deleting your game cache in your hard drive, all of your game updates will be erased, forcing you to download them again the next time you sign into XBOX Live. Here's how to delete your game cache:

Please be reminded that once you do this, you won't be able to play the Mission Modes while you're offline with your game cache being cleared!

- Go to the system blade and Select MEMORY

- Press Y and then press X, X, LB, RB, X, X. A confirmation message will appear asking you if you want to perform a maintenance on your hard drive. Choose Yes, and there ya go!

Does it work for you? It did for me!

Games for Windows Live Now Free

250°
312w ago - Effective immediately, Microsoft has dropped the regular subscription-based Gold plan on its Games for Windows Live service, allowing PC gamers to play titles under the GFWL banner online with others completely free of charge.

The move includes titles that support cross-platform gameplay between the PC and Xbox 360, such as Lost Planet: Colonies and Universe at War.

Additionally, Microsoft plans to introduce a completely new marketplace interface for GFWL this fall, featuring a variety of both paid and free content, ranging from playable demos to downloadable content for existing games.

To quote: At the Gamefest 2008 event on Tuesday, Microsoft announced that all Games for Windows Live multiplayer features are now free. These features -- including multiplayer achievements, matchmaking, cross-platform play with the Xbox 360, GFW voice chat, and more -- previously required a GFW Live Gold account. The change is effective immediately and across all GFW titles, both past and future.
