200°
147w ago - Sony's Andy Stewart of the PlayStation Store Team is here with the first European Game Store and PS Plus updates for the new year today, as follows below:

Welcome to 2012, this year looks like it is going to be a big one for us at Sony with the launch of PSVita on 22nd February as well as some new (and old) games and content you have been requesting.

However sadly this week don't have loads coming to the store this week (which after Christmas and the Festive Sale might be a slight relief for your wallets) but what we do have I think will put a smile on your faces.

First off we have All Zombies Must Die, a must have for all you twin-stick shooter, zombie mayhem fans. We also have the PSone classic Wild Arms available from today and the Batman Arkham City - Challenge Map Pack to further test your cap crusading skills.

And just to finish off, I don't usually highlight avatars but the Warlords avatars we have coming to the store today I think look really cool, so check them out.

So that's it for another week from me, see you in the comments, BYE!!

The Festive Sale is still going until the 11th January 2012. So jump onto the store today...

As many of you know, PlayStation Plus is the subscription service from PlayStation Network that gets you access to free games, huge discounts, and great exclusives across the network. And we're kicking off the New Year in a big way!

Video: Starhawk Private PS3 Beta to Close January 3, 2012

149w ago - Sony Senior Producer Harvard Bonin has announced today alongside some new [Register or Login to view links] that the Starhawk Private PS3 Beta is slated to close on January 3, 2012.

To quote: As of Tuesday, January 3rd, the lights will go down on the Starhawk Private Beta.

It's been a wild, wild ride and we want to thank ALL the participants that took time out of their schedule to help us test Starhawk. We've learned an enormous amount and have applied much of it already.

We've still got a long way to go but the leg up this info has provided us is incredibly valuable. The Private Beta was our first step to try out the game in the wild and it's been simply awesome.

And because of this success, we've decided to keep the Private Beta live through the holiday break. After all, what would ringing in 2012 be without a little Starhawk beatdown session?!!

So what's next? Why, the Public Beta, of course! In the next few weeks we'll be announcing the dates for this important step.

Many more players will be allowed access, including the UNCHARTED 3 owners who received a Public Beta voucher when they purchased the game! Look for more information and specifics very soon.

Video: Hands-on Sorcery for PlayStation Move, Arrives in Spring

350°
150w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman has posted up a hands-on video today showcasing Sorcery for PlayStation Move, which is slated to arrive on PS3 in Spring 2012.

To quote: One of the more memorable action games I've played this year is a game uses the PlayStation Move motion controller to paint a symphony of destruction.

Last seen at the E3 2010 PlayStation press conference, Sorcery captured the imaginations of PS3 owners while remaining tantalizingly out of reach. At last week's PlayStation media showcase in New York City, I was finally allowed to go hands-on with Sorcery and speak with its design director, Brian Upton, who stated that the game is on-track to release this spring.

Sorcery is running on a heavily modified version of the Unreal engine, and the art direction has progressed by leaps and bounds since its last showing.

The game now skews a bit older, with nastier monster designs and edgier spellcasting combat. Watch the video, read our full Q&A, then let us know what you think of Sorcery in the comments!

PlayStation.Blog: I'll cut to the chase: Why have we had to wait so long to see Sorcery again?
