Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Launch Event in PlayStation Home

267w ago - Today PlayStation Home Online Community Specialist Locust_Star has announced news of a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launch event in PlayStation Home.

To quote: If you are like us, you've marked your calendars and informed all and sundry that, come November 10, you will be shirking your day-to-day responsibilities in favor of tossing flashbangs and dropping brass on any and all opponents in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Forget work, school, and jury duty - this Tuesday it's all about who can get the most Killstreaks as we embark on a shoot-or-be-shot journey through the war torn landscapes of one of the most highly-anticipated titles of the year.

For those of you who are saving the single-player campaign for a later time and instead opting to spend D-Day knee-deep in some of the most ridiculously addictive multiplayer modes you'll find in any FPS around, there's no better place to find a battle than in PlayStation Home.

Why? First and foremost, PlayStation Home allows you to easily find other CoD:MW2 fans and seamlessly launch into the various multiplayer match types including Free-For-All, Search & Destroy, Domination, Team Deathmatch and the new Demolition and Capture The Flag modes.

But to top it off we're also offering participants in our...

Video: Coming to PSN this Week: Braid for PlayStation 3

200°
267w ago - Today Sony's Social Media Senior Specialist Chris Morell has shared a video showcasing Braid for PlayStation 3, which is coming to PSN later this week.

To quote: This Thursday November 12, Braid descends upon the PlayStation Network. And that means I'm one happy camper.

On sheer style alone, Braid is worth shelling out $14.99 in my opinion. But thankfully, it also happens to have some stellar gameplay that revolves around a time-reversing mechanic, which will keep you on your toes as you solve Braid's numerous puzzles.

Don't trust me? I connected with Joel DeYoung (you heard from him last week) from Hothead Games via PlayStation Eye, and he takes us through the ins and outs of Braid for PSN.

And yes, there's plenty of in-game HD footage to give you an idea of what you'll get on Thursday.

Videos: Netflix Instant Streaming Disc for PlayStation 3 in Action

200°
268w ago - Recently many users have received their Netflix Instant Streaming Disc that began shipping a few days ago.

As mentioned previously, the disc is required to use the Netflix steaming service on the PlayStation 3 until 2010, when a Firmware update will take its place.

Below are several videos of it in action, the first is courtesy of otimus via YouTube with the other being from JoyStiq.

To quote from the video's caption: "If there's any stuttering in the video, it's not netflix or the PS3, but my Junky TV Tuner I'm using to record. I don't think I got any stuttering, however. We'll see!

Connection speed: 3Mbps
Connection type: Wired Ethernet

Sorry for the lack of sound. I connect my PS3 via optical, and I was too lazy to go get an audio splitter to put it in the audio in on my PC to record audio from my tuner card. I have some real big issues with the PS3 netflix disc:

1) It renders video in 480p. The UI is whatever the res of your PS3 is, but video is downscaled regardless. It does NOT upscale.
2) Also, video ratio does not scale, like, for example, I have to set my screen to stretch for widescreen, and 4:3 for 4:3 content, else things...
