261w ago - Recently 1UP has conducted a great interview with Quantic Dream's president and CEO (and Heavy Rain writer and director) David Cage, and have released a couple more screenshots that can be considered breathtaking to say the least.
Of course, screenshots have the ability to speak just fine for themselves. Make sure to visit the source (linked above) to see them all. Below is an excerpt from the interview:
1UP: You warned against reading too much into the taxidermist scene, but does that scene suggest Heavy Rain's themes might be more rooted in reality than Indigo Prophecy's?
DC: Definitely. We tend to believe in our industry that we need to tell simplistic or spectacular stories, where the hero saves the world, destroys evil, or has supernatural powers. This is because the videogame, as a medium, has been too immature to tell complex and subtle stories. I made this mistake myself at the end of [Indigo Prophecy], where I felt my story needed something spectacular because all I had so far was normal people leading a normal life.
I realized that the "normal" part was the one that worked the best, and that it wasn't necessary to save the world to tell something exciting anymore. Heavy Rain will be about normal people in real life, and I believe it'll be much more emotionally...
Hi everyone, in the next PS3 firmware update (v2.53) we're improving the way the Flash Player works with the Internet browser. In addition to being able to access more sites using Flash, you'll be able to enjoy:
• Full-screen mode playability
• Live movie (using RTMP format) playability
Now it's going to be even easier to enjoy Web content on your PS3, in full-screen!
262w ago - PlayStation Home director Jack Buser was recently asked if Home is definitely going to launch this year. "It's imminent. We haven't announced a specific date but we will make a public announcement." he replied.
Buser also went onto say that Home is going to be a very different experience maybe, six, twelve months down the line compared to what you see on day one.
To quote from the Gamasutra interview:
And Home is definitely going to launch this year?
JB: it's imminent. We haven't announced a specific date but we will make a public announcement.
It has suffered many delays already, of course.
JB: When you think about PlayStation Home you really have to think of it, as I've said before, as a massive undertaking. We've been trying to create something that really has never been done before.
But we're now at the point where we've created the platform, third-parties are creating content for the platform, and yeah, we have executed on our vision and we're standing in a really good place with it and we will launch this year.
The platform is really strong. It's going to allow us to scale very organically with all the content that third parties are going to be adding -- you're really going to see PlayStation Home evolve over time....
