270w ago - Update: Courtesy of caliblue15 comes more 'proof' screens on [Register or Login to view links], who is also reporting that apparently it can only be played at certain times (ala Fat Princess).

Today various Web sites, including TheGamerAccess.com (linked above), are reporting that the MAG (Massive Action Game) BETA for PlayStation 3 has begun.

To quote: "I just signed onto the PlayStation Network planning to hop onto Killzone 2, when I noticed something very interesting while viewing my friends list. One of the users on my friends list was playing the MAG Beta.

I will not release any information as to who this person is, but I will tell you that he/she is an employee for Sony. Because he/she works for Sony, this version of the Beta could be available only to a select few industry employees, but this could also mean that the MAG Beta is right around the corner."

That being said, if anyone else can confirm the news feel free to comment below!

270w ago - Update: French site [Register or Login to view links] reports that Gran Turismo 5 will hit Europe on December 11, with [Register or Login to view links] now confirming the release date as well. It's rumored the date will be officially announced at GamesCom Cologne during Sony's August 18th press conference.

Gran Turismo 5 creator Kazunori Yamauchi stated last month that Polyphony Digital will give a GT5 release date for PS3 soon.

That being said, if [Register or Login to view links] is correct then Yamauchi definitely wasn't kidding.

According to Amazon's official listing for North America, Sony will release Gran Turismo 5 on December 29th, 2009.

To quote: The fact that this date falls on a Tuesday only adds more credence since game publishers typically release their titles to retailers on Tuesdays. Oh, and you may remember this little [Register or Login to view links] spilled by SCEE chief executive James Armstrong last December.

Even though this isn't...

50°
270w ago - Insomniac Games Community Relations Manager James Stevenson has outlined a recap of Comic-Con 2009 Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time footage today.

To quote: We led off with some exclusive videos that those of you playing at home won't be able to see until the final game releases, one involving Captain Qwark, and the other an unlockable video about the Agorian Warriors.

Allgeier and company then discussed the story, and its theme of "throwing caution to the wind," especially relating to the effect of Ratchet being with an older Lombax for the first time. One of the early highlights involved a verbal spar between Taylor and Shimerman, using the voices of Ratchet and Dr. Nefarious, respectively, as they sat together on stage talk about Nefarious's temperament issues.

Discussion then turned to Clank and his whereabouts after being kidnapped at the end of Tools of Destruction. Bernal revealed that Clank is being held at the center of the universe (give or take fifty feet), in a secret facility known as the Great Clock. Clank gains new time abilities and has some brand new indie-inspired time gameplay.

Next came a topic that is a series standby: weapons. The beginning of the discussion centered on the Weapons Contest...
