Retro/Grade Coming to PS3 via PlayStation Network

50°
269w ago - 24 Caret Games Co-founder Matt Gilgenbach has announced news that Retro/Grade is coming to PS3 via PlayStation Network, as follows:

Retro/Grade, the first game played entirely in reverse, will be released on PSN! Actually, let me start from the beginning. I'm Matt Gilgenbach, co-founder of [Register or Login to view links].

We are proud to announce that we will be releasing our first game, Retro/Grade, on the Playstation Network for Playstation 3. Retro/Grade stars ace fighter pilot Rick Rocket who has just saved the universe.

Unfortunately, the massive destruction he left in his wake has caused a temporal anomaly that reversed the flow of time. You must assume control of Rick's spacecraft and fight through the epic space battle... in reverse!

At this point, you may be thinking, "How on earth do you play a game in reverse?" That is a very good question, and after many years of temporal physics research, we've finally come up with the solution. As you can see from our screenshots, Retro/Grade looks like a really exciting shoot 'em up.

However, it actually plays more like a rhythm game. In order to protect the health of the space/time continuum, Rick must undo his actions exactly...

Guide: How to Improve PlayStation 3 Trophy Sync. Speed

400°
269w ago - We all know the problem. While your PS3 Trophy list grows and as more games you install, the synchronize process of the trophies becomes slower and slower.

Now I found a simple solution to fix this problem and speed it up.

Here is the How-To:

1. Shutdown PS3
2. Hold the power-button till the PS3 shuts down by itself after some beeps
3. Hold the power-button down again, till you hear a "double beep"
4. Unhand the button; now the service menu starts
5. Choose option 4 "Rebuild Database"
6. Done, now your PS3 updates the trophies very fast again

1UP Podcast: PlayStation 3 Slim Madden Bundle Hits This August?

300°
269w ago - Just a few days ago we speculated about IGN's Podcast which referenced the PS3 Slim console as being real.

Today it appears 1UP wants their turn to add some PS3 Slim hype to the Internet in a Podcast of their own, as follows:

Download: [Register or Login to view links]

In this week's episode, David Ellis stated that the PS3 Slim is coming in August and that it will bundled with Madden NFL 10.

The transcript below can be heard at the 01:26:14 mark.

To quote: "It's gonna be in August. Everything I've heard says it's coming in August, it's tied with Madden."

Sony has previously confirmed Madden's release date is August 14... once again only time will tell, eh?

The PlayStation 3 May Be Doing Better Than People Think

650°
269w ago - "It's in third place." "Sony messed up." "Sony is doomed!" Unless you're new to the Internet (in that case, welcome!), you've probably heard all of the anti-Sony PlayStation 3 comments before.

Ever since its launch in 2006, the PS3 has been often called a failure by some Web sites and people (and of course, fanboys).

Even in 2009, with Sony's outstanding game lineup, people are still criticizing the console and its games. The point is, people still love to hate the PS3. But is any of it true?

To quote: After doing some research, I've come to the conclusion that no, it's not even close. In fact, despite currently being outsold by the Wii and Xbox 360, Sony's latest console has been doing a very good job.

First off, there's the sales. As of March 31st, 2009, the PS3 had sold 22.91 million units worldwide, while the Xbox 360 sold 30.2 million units. That's a lead of approximately 7 million.

But when the PS3 first launched, the 360 had sold 10 million units (since it had a one year headstart). That means that since the PS3 launch, the 360's lead has shrunk by 3 million units.

Now let's look at the last-gen consoles. In their lifetimes, the Gamecube sold 21.74 million units, and the original Xbox 24 million. With the PS3 at 23 million, that means that it...
