Final Fantasy VII to Hit PlayStation Store, Over 50 PSOne Classics

269w ago - The PlayStation Network continues to be an integral part of Sony's business model, with the company today announcing that we can expect 90 exclusive titles and more than 50 PSone classics coming to the service this year.

As previously reported, Final Fantasy VII hits the PSN today, with more titles expected to be announced shortly.

There are currently 24 million users on the PSN across 55 countries, including 11 million users in North America who've downloaded some 475 million pieces of content thus far.

To quote: Today Jack Tretton has announced during Sony's E3 conference that they will be bringing over fifty PSOne Classics to the PlayStation Store this year, starting today with the release of Square Enix's Final Fantasy VII on the store.

Some of these titles are Capcom games, as Capcom has previously stated they are bringing more PSone Classics to the PlayStation Store.
 

E3 Comes to PlayStation Home, Keynote Address Tomorrow

269w ago - As was reported a few days back, today PlayStation Home Online Community Specialist Locust_Star has introduced the Presentation Podium Space.

To quote: Here's the deal: We will be showcasing a special taping of Jack Tretton's E3 Keynote Address in-world come Tuesday evening. We'll also be bringing you tons of showroom floor footage, developer interviews, sneak peeks, and other cool vids courtesy of our friends over here at the PlayStation.Blog.

All you have to do is head over to the Presentation Podium to watch it on the big screen. This special Events space is accessible via the Menu Pad - just press Start > Locations > World Map then select the PlayStation Home World Map chip and press X. This will break out into several other chips; just scroll over to the Presentation Podium chip, press X, and teleport your self to the party.

PlayStation Home: Presentation Podium Space Now Available

269w ago - As a follow-up to yesterday's confirmation of news that the E3 2009 SCEA Press Conference will be viewable in PlayStation Home, today the PlayStation Home Presentation Podium Space is available.

To quote: Simply log into PlayStation Home and check out the new Presentation Podium. PlayStation Home Pre-E3 has started.

So far all you can do is watch a few trailers on the big screen and sit on this nice covered patio area with cool hanging lamps and S-shaped couches.

I'm sure more things will be added as E3 hits in a few days.
 

Confirmed: E3 2009 SCEA Press Conference in PlayStation Home

269w ago - Today James Gallagher, content producer for SCEE, has officially revealed through a reply to a comment on the EU PlayStation.Blog that the SCEA press conference will be available to watch in PlayStation Home.

To quote: You will be able to watch the SCEA press conference in Home, in a new space called the Presentation Podium.

We're still waiting for confirmation of when.

I know quite a few of you have been asking this question, so apologies for not replying to every one - busy times!
 

PlayStation Now: Sony Prepares Army of PlayStation Evangelists

269w ago - Earlier this year Sony began quietly readying an army of evangelists to take to the front lines of the escalating console wars.

The Experience PlayStation Now program had a "beta test" of sorts earlier this month, with Sony employees well-versed in the ins and outs of the PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 3 setting up temporary shop in a select number of Best Buys across the country.

The idea for the program is fairly simple: Get the PlayStation 3, the PlayStation Portable, into peoples' hands, explain all of the things they can do, and people will buy them.

"This allows real, live passionate people to reach out to consumers," said Kim Nguyen, marketing manager for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 2. "They will answer some basic questions and tell people things about the PlayStation 3 they may not know."

The merchandising representatives will tell people about the PS3's games, but also answer questions about the built-in Blu-ray player, about the hard drive, about going online with the console.

"This is the sort of dialog we want to have with our consumers," Nguyen said. "The root of this program is education. We know people see the PlayStation 3 as a very expensive machine. In order for them to appreciate the value of the PlayStation 3 they need to see all...
