400°
132w ago - Today SCEA Senior Vice President of Business Development Philip Rosenberg has officially confirmed that Netflix is coming to the PlayStation Vita handheld console.

To quote: As you may have heard during today's Sony Electronics press conference at the [Register or Login to view links] in Las Vegas, PlayStation and Netflix are teaming up again to bring tens of thousands of hours of movies and TV episodes from Netflix to the PS Vita for US customers.

The PlayStation 3 is of one the most popular devices for watching movies and TV shows streamed over the internet from Netflix.

Now all those movies and TV episodes can be watched on PS Vita's stunning high-def OLED front touch screen.

The addition of Netflix streaming to PS Vita's unique, powerful gameplay experiences gives users even more access and flexibility to the content they want, when they want it and where they want it.

Stay tuned for more exciting updates as we near the February 22nd launch of PS Vita!

Sony PlayStation Vita Encryption Flaw Uncovered by Hacker SKFU?

800°
134w ago - Following up on his previous update, today PlayStation Vita hacker SKFU reports that he may have uncovered a PS Vita encryption flaw.

To quote from his page: Since I finally have access to a retail PS VITA, today I started with some basic tests.

After a complete freeze of the system within the first 5 minutes after unboxing (*always happens to new consoles 4 me rofl*), I went on and noticed that there is a problem with the VITA's encryption functions and was able to decrypt some test files directly via the system.

I will post updates as soon as I have news

Video: Resistance: Burning Skies - George Washington Bridge

135w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein shared a new video demo of Resistance: Burning Skies for PlayStation Vita today spotlighting play through the George Washington Bridge.

To quote: I can't wait to finally be able to play a proper FPS on the go, and that time will come when Resistance: Burning Skies launches for PlayStation Vita in 2012.

Recently, Rob Huebner of developer Nihilistic talked us through the newly-revealed George Washington Bridge area of RBS.

Since this is Day 1 of the Chimeran invasion, don't expect a leisurely jaunt across the Hudson River; the bridge is lousy with Chimeran Scouts, armed with infrared beam-enabled sniper rifles.

In this video, Huebner narrates as producer Frank Simon drags and drops grenades right where he wants them.

Also, take note of touch-screen melee controls, the first person cover system, the touch-activated weapon wheel, and the Sixeye sniper rifle's alt-fire mode.

Video: FIFA on PS Vita - Learn Soccer's New PlayStation Controls

200°
135w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has shared a video today demonstrating the new PlayStation controls in FIFA Soccer for the PS Vita handheld console.

To quote: EA's first foray onto the PlayStation Vita is a strong one, as the EA Sports team in Vancouver isn't just miniaturising the PS3 experience into a portable size, but refining the controls to take advantage of the new hardware. In this hands-on video, producer Matt Prior demonstrates what he calls "the most controllable version of FIFA ever."

As is quickly becoming standard practice when console franchises debut on the Vita, these touchscreen controls are optional. Yet I think longtime video footballers will find themselves using at least some of these new tricks pretty quickly, as they feel right at home.

I spent some time with this demo version of FIFA after the event, and I found myself toying around with the playable menu screen for a long time, just taking shot after shot on goal.

The accuracy of the rear touch shooting has won me over, and I look forward to hearing your impressions of it once it debuts in just a few short months.
