261w ago - Evolution Studios Senior Artist Stuart Trevor shared a few basic photography tips today via PS Blog to help transform pictures of cars into works of art.
To quote: We put a photo mode into MotorStorm: Pacific Rift for a good reason – we think it looks pretty awesome!
The photo mode allows you to capture the best moments and save them so you can show your grand kids long after all your teeth have fallen out.
1. Subject and Timing - Sometimes in MotorStorm you'll want to reach for your trusty Photo Mode because something made you laugh out loud, other times because you think "oooh, purrrrdy..." but in both of these cases and most others, you'll be looking for action.
Action is all about timing, so you need to hit that Pause button and engage Photo Mode at just the right moment. Get this bit right and you can fiddle with the other settings and the try out the tips below to your heart's content.
2. Framing and composition - This is one of those things that some people find natural, and others need to give it a lot of practice.
You can apply a couple of simple rules to all images that will improve their composition straight off, the main one being the 'rule of thirds',...
261w ago - For two game generations, Sony established itself as the industry leader: the popularity of the PSone carried over to the rampant success of the PS2.
Of course, many people expected a similar situation for the PS3, but the transition for the latest system hasn't been as seamless as people expected. While its best of times from the past two consoles hasn't lead to a worst of times now, Sony has committed a number of mistakes, such as a reversal on its backwards compatibility policy, a loss of system exclusive titles and a staunch refusal to counter price drops by competitors.
These stumbles have helped Microsoft strengthen its position as a rival in the HD gaming arena, and has also helped Nintendo reestablish itself as a major player to be reckoned with.
So what's Sony to do? While the company isn't even close to dire straights, it would rather be on top looking down than sitting at the bottom and looking up. Fortunately, there's still time for the company to assert its dominance and start to conquer its competition.
Below, we've outlined five companies that could help save Sony's standing in the gaming industry, as well as pointed out what games they could make for the gaming giant that could turn its position around. Think of it as a holiday gift from us to them.
261w ago - To share games downloaded from the PlayStation Store on up to 5 PS3 systems for most games and add-ons all you need to do is create a new user on your system and go to sign-up for PSN and use an existing account.
Just enter your friend's sign-in info then it should say "thank you for signing up" with their name. Then go to the PlayStation Store and click on downloads and just download what you like!
Once the download starts, you can sign off their name and it will continue to download once you sign back to your account. Enjoy!
On a related note, be sure to check PSN.PS3News.com for the latest PSN links. You can click on the column headings to sort by PSN Title, Date Added, Region and Type.
261w ago - The revolution of the internet is in full swing, as is the drive on reducing our 'carbon footprint'. With Internet speeds continuing to increase, such things as downloadable movies and game demos for the current PS3 have become available.
If Sony decide to insist on all PS4 content being downloadable only it would remove the need for an optical disk drive. This would also remove the cap which games have due to the finite limit of data which can be stored on a disk.
No longer will games be confined to DVD or Blu-ray capacity disks, instead they can be of an almost infinite size. This exclusion of a drive will also reduce the overall price of the console, noise and power consumption.
With the removal of an optical drive the console no longer requires moving parts, Sony could get far more creative with the styling of the console. You could even have a weeble console, which wobbles, but just won't fall down!
This ability to download all content to our PS4's HDD would vastly reduce the effect on the environment as packaging is no longer needed, games are not required to be transported around the world in vehicles, and lets face it... it even saves us walking to the shops.
So what's your thinking on this then? I can see benefits, and drawbacks of having an optical...
261w ago - Sonic Unleashed. That's it. Though, if you're in Europe you won't even be getting your hands on that until next week.
Otherwise, Asia catches up with the rest of the world with Mirror's Edge. Hear that? That's the sound of your wallet breathing a sigh of relief. The end of year barrage of titles is over.
Here's the list in handy bullet point form:
• Sonic Unleashed
• No new releases
• Mirror's Edge
Release dates are constantly subject to change. Your PS3 will play import titles, so if you're a Euro Sonic fan go ahead and import it if you like. Keep in mind, though, that if there's any DLC in the future, you will have to grab it from the American PSN Store.
